PAL PS3 Will we still have the Super Companion Chip?

I was just wondering what your take on the Cell SCC is?. Do you think that we will see a new South Bridge on the PAL revisions or will Sony keep the SCC which for what the PS3 currently offers, is overkill.

What could we be seeing in the future of the Cell and the SCC relationship?

There is the much mentioned DVR functionality, but what else can you think of that will make this chip worth while for sony to implement as a south bridge?
Could we see an external USB connectable DVD burner and be able to burn video content from the PS3.

What are your 0.02 $

I forgot what was the SCC about. Can someone remind me? Something about upscaling?

We still don't know for certain that the SCC is present on the first revision of the PS3.
The die size of the PS3 Southbridge and the SCC are eerily similar, and that's why most think it should be the SCC, but we are not sure of it, yet.

Now, about the PAL PS3, we'll have to wait for the first look at the PAL mobo to see what they changed other than the removal of the EE+GS chip.

Really? i was under the impression that the SCC in the PS3 was confirmed?
Probably just some mumbo jumbo i read from some fanboy then :)

Mods you can close this thread sorry for the inconvenience.

Cant someone just take apart a PS3 and check? :p
The current assumption is that the revision will only start becoming available on the day of the European launch (March 23rd). IOW take a sit at the fire and have a sack full of patience like everyone else :-|

I'm not even sure who we're looking at for a disassembly. THG, Anand, ... ?
