I remember some discussion somewhere that MS and Sony were defining Europe differently.

One of them included more nations than the other or a different group of nations, which resulted in one console coming out on top.

The Euro sales is a tangent that I'm not going to allow to continue any further. This isn't an MS versus Sony sales thread!

It does sound like Sony have held back the social stuff for Liepzig. I wonder how these companies decided what to announce when?

It could simply be that most developers create games best suited to their own region. So it makes sense to announce and show them of at a big event in their own region. E3 is for american devs and is leaning most towards action games and Leipzig will probably focus more on european devs and their social games.

Well now that E3 is now the "Media and Business Summit" and is not open to the public, while the Leipzig Games Convention is, it makes sense to really get into the games and game announcements at Leipzig and use E3 for hardware and service announcements.

I've always thought E for All is too close to Christmas for anything other than showing off games due out in the next month or so.

Ueda indicated at the Nordic Game conference a couple of months back that his new game will have some kind of network component. But nothing more detailed....

Indeed and although I highly await Leipzig I really am wating for TGS 08

Anyhow the Sony E3, although heavily critizised for its lack of shock value was perfectly fine for what it is as basically all Sony did was address all of the "so called" issues that mostly North American based gamer magazines and websites and forum boards (although that can also include the rest of the world)

Then again maybe its the gamers fault in not realizing just how long games can take to make and that the PS3 as of July is about one year and eight months old.

That did not sound right at all because I always thought it was Titan Studios who developed this game. I went to Darkstar's site and they indeed changed their name to Titan Studios. You are correct though

When I'm listening to shows like 1up, it strikes me that while many sites seem to feel the Sony Conference was weakest, when it comes to talking about games they liked the big majority of those are Sony or multi-platform. So it can't have been all bad. ;)

Sony did very good in all those E3 awards most sites have. I guess they measure the success of the press conference by the amount of big unexpected announcements. The new video store and a new game announcements probably weren't enough. And some of them were expecting a new motion controller, and price drop for the PS3.

They must have changed their name to Titan Studios to hide from all the fat activist's.

theres no denying the ps3 has a lot of great games coming out. but i do agree that the PC itself was boring though... hardly anything exciting was shown. the only thing i remember was the Resistance demo.

The LBP financial presentation was cool though.

Looks like Sony will be the only one to have a conference at Leipzig (according to Eurogamer at least).

    Again.

When you say 'only one' you mean only console company, right? :p Which is surprising. MS have been talking a lot about Europe. Recent number make it about 10% bigger a market than NA (though of course with lots more inconveniences) and lots of sides have been calling Europe the essential territory. Kind of a hard battle for MS to win if they don't show up! And you'd have thought they'd be making of big thing of their Euro-friendly movements like Lips. :???:

I believe Ms is rumored to be doing an x0 event on its own. Nintendo well i dont' think it matters for the core gamer anyway.

With the Euro so high, they're all talking about Europe, but they don't really do much about it, other than perhaps ship more product.
