Official E3 Microsoft Conference Thread 2010

Valhalla chipset confirmed?

On the fact sheet it does say integrated 45nm cpu and gpu. And a few months back we did see the actual vahalla engineering sample so I would say it is the vahalla chipset. It also has one fan in the same spot as the eng sample.

I guess we should see some tear downs in a few days to confirm this.

I have GAME UK warranty, and am really tempted to deliberately RROD my 360 in order to claim free replacement for this one. The old models out now will be discontinued right?

Honestly, this seems like it's going to be a terrible E3. Sony's presentation probably won't be any better, and Nintendo's presentation will be... well, Nintendo's presentation.
Sony dont rely on 3 or 4 core ip's. Gran Turismo will be there. Last Guardian surely?. Sony already has 3 times the amount of 1st party games announced than Microsoft. Why are people surprised isnt this natural?.

heh. Watching it the conference. Their presenters still give the cheesiest speeches and presentations. But the whole structure of the conference seems good. That CoD gameplay was unnecessarily too long

Im not sure how to feel really. If they get the pricing for Kinect correct they will do well in the casual space. As a traditional gamer with no interest in casual games i feel kind of shafted though. Where are my games?
Um, did you not see COD, MGS: Rising, Gears, Halo, and Fable 3?

ahh patience is a virtue!... Now I need to find a way to be virtuous. :devilish:

Edit:
again... will N band make any difference in MP or streaming compared to G?

thanks

yea looking at spec sheet.. HDD not compatible with old but is removable, chipset 45 nanometer integrated CPU/GPU
Depends on which band you use. I use N on the 5GHz band instead of my ridiculously cluttered 2.4GHz band. Makes a _huge_ difference, especially since I keep all the old clunky devices on the 2.4GHz band.

I highly recommend a true dual band wireless N router.

I did. I guess they did not have much of an impact on me. Probably because they were all known about, and are all pretty much what we expected except MGSR. Im not expecting much from Sony either considering the amount of games they have just announced. Just hope there will be some games revealed that we dont already know about. That is what i look forward to in these conferences.

is that possible on the mixed mode? or am I wasting my time (I keep it now on G only as i have heard that is faster than B/G?) if i have other B/G only devices in house. What else is on 2.4 GHZ in a typical house BTW?

Ohhh... It's not that there weren't enough games for you, it's that there weren't enough _surprises_ tailored to you. Gotcha.

I suppose so. MS had limited time, and concentrated on Kinect. I'm really impressed at how well they kept the new XBox form factor a secret. One Motherboard months ago and the inevitable partner slip last night.

I'm sure there will be many fun games tailored to you announced by EA, Ubisoft and other over the next few days, although new IP seems a little hard to find these days. It's all sequels. (Although as long as it's sequels of stuff I love, keep on truckin' :))

You mean games we knew were coming to 360 already? His question was 'Where are my games', saying 'well, there were games, just not for you' just means you're agreeing with him.

Cordless phones. Your neighbor's wireless. Microwave ovens. Bluetooth. XBox controllers. Wireless mice/keyboards.

Not sure what you're asking about "mixed mode". It's good to keep your B/G router on G only, because as soon as you add a B, you reduce your bandwidth to about a quarter of the full G bandwidth. You also get the same issues with mixed mode B/G/N on 2.4GHz, which is why I got a dual band router with two radios in it.

Even with only G on yours you'll still get interference from other 2.4GHz sources. The 5GHz band is much less crowded.

So it doesn't count as a game if you already knew it existed? And the games I mentioned were absolutely core gamer games.

It's difficult to announce surprise games when you tend to concentrate on games coming out in the next year or so.

Sure, Sony has a bunch of stuff announced. So much stuff announced that I'm sure they'll be all-Move. And at this point, do we still need more promises about GT5? Shouldn't we get a fixed date instead? Last Guardian info might be neat, but I kinda think that'll be at TGS.

Sony's conference should have 3D, PSN+, and Move. Some people want to see PSP2. That would be a bonus, but badly needed by Sony though -- especially after 3DS, Android, iPad and iPhone news.
EDIT: oops, forgot about the PS3 SKU revision too.

Btw, did Milo make an appearance in the presentation ?

Nope. Although he would probably have been more natural and less wooden than some of the folks that _were_ on stage. It's tough to put on a good show when most of your employees are introverted geeks :)

Are you serious? There wasn't a single new game announcement that wasn't Kinect-related. You really don't understand why some people might not be so happy with the situation?

No one's saying those games don't exist or aren't important, but in old MS E3 press conference days they'd announce MGS:Rising or FFXIII on 360. Edit: apparently Reach was announced last year too, I had forgotten.
