Nvidia's 3000 Series RTX GPU [3090s with different memory capacity]

Different layout and thus different cooling. 3090's main problem was the cooling of RAM chips on the back of the board.

The breakout provided was for the view from the consumer as to what they're getting for the 33% higher costs. All those things you're saying is nice to know but doesn't change the correctness of the original breakout, and would be summed up by "better cooling of vram".

As @trinibwoy stated, it just a cash grab game played by IHV's. When looking at the MSRP values for RX 6900xt ($1000) vs RX 6800xt ($650) it makes even less sense for a 10% performance increase.

ASUS Plans To Drop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Graphics Card Prices By Up To 25% Starting 1st April (wccftech.com)
ASUS is officially the first company to lower its GPU prices throughout all lines. This new information is suitable for gamers and pushes the competition to follow suit so that users will also want to purchase their cards.

In an official press release, ASUS announced that consumers lower prices on their NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards in the next few months. While there is not much to the release itself, ASUS extends the reasoning for the current price reduction plans, citing the end of US tariffs on imports from China.
...
But is this a sign of the market finally catching up to the chip shortage? Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has exclaimed that the worst of the deficit is ending, with a gradual increase this year and into the next. This new reduction in price from ASUS might signal the end with the market fully healed from the lack of chips and other devices that have continued to show shortages.

Is that an early April Fools Day prank? No company would ever schedule anything for that day.
Everyone is dropping prices gradually so they're just drawing attention to themselves.

I don't think procreators would choose this over RTX 3090 ... costs a little more and requires more power. I was thinking it might be an effort to reclaim spots on the 3DMark professional benchmark ranking.
In many countries, 3090Ti is cheaper than 3090. So actually, it's a no brainer

Some companies announce or launch stuff on the April fools day.

IIRC gmail also was on April 1st.

Although with how ridiculous gpu price is, even the discounted asus still propably higher than MSRP

Here is the US I am seeing GeForce availability being pretty good now. Prices are still way beyond MSRP though of course.

Newegg has had lots in stock for some time now. Prices are still 50-100% higher than MSRP though. With new AMD GPUs supposedly launching this year it’s a pretty poor time to pay such prices.

Yeah it does look like there’s decent supply at current prices. Hard to say if retailers are just gouging now or if the market is in equilibrium.

Don't forget that current gen GPU MSRPs have been announced before TARIFFs increase. With last week announcement of decrease of TARIFFs, prices should go down further.
For this reason, In EU right now, prices are closer to MSRP

This was already speculated quite awhile ago, GPU pricings should be at msrp again by the summer at the last. Good times ahead.

I’m not so sure. Too many gamers have shown their willingness to be whales. Why would companies ever go back to MSRP? Looking at future GPUs, why wouldn’t the IHVs just start with much higher MSRPs?

Well there is inventory out there now to buy and it's not selling out so maybe there is a limit heh. But I do think NV will shift MSRP up again with their next cards.

It would be really interesting if Intel would try to disrupt pricing.

Yeah looking at the general market it seems people are willing to pay more and more. We will see, id also guess that manufacturers kerp upping prices aslong people are willing to give their money.

I remember flagship phones costing almost half of what they do today. PS2 could be had for 299, GF4 Ti4600 was quite good priced conpared to today. We have ourselfs to blame.

Yeah I think NV will continue to push MSRP higher.
AMD has a permanent 10% price increase due to increased 7nm TSMC manufacturing costs. No reported change from Nvidia regarding increased gpu prices.
According to a thread on the Board Channels Forums (spotted by Videocardz) AMD has decided to increase the pricing of Radeon RX 6000 GPUs by 10 percent. Graphics cards based on RDNA 2 tech will cost around $20 to $40 (£15 to £30) more, according to the report. The new pricing is likely to take effect with the next shipment of GPUs to AMD’s partners.

Just happy to see overall costs decrease in April due to supply channels opening.

I've seen the claim for AMD price increase before too, but at no point since then have the prices gone up so did it really happen?

Again? Ampere MSRPs were a significant improvement over both Pascal and Turing, to the point where AMD was forced to price their cards below what they'd prefer.

With Lovelace a lot will be riding on how the market will be at its launch frame. If the mining induced prices will deflate to MSRP levels for Ampere then there won't be any reasons to increase the MSRPs for Lovelace

I expect $999 for RTX 4080 and $1499 for 4090 so they can say that they have much better value for money when compared to 3090 Ti
