Nvidia's 3000 Series RTX GPU [3090s with different memory capacity]

Early days and there is drivers and software issues that got fixed in two weeks. Even the software side has improved alot it seems.

Performance increases stagnating.... Biggest jump in tech and performance ever late 2020.

It seems the harder you push it, the more its lead opens up. It's 26.7% faster than the 3080 in Control at 4K with RTX. And most games put it between 15-20% faster than the 3080 at 4K with plenty exceeding 20%. Nvidia was clearly lowballing it when them claimed 10-15% more performance on their website.

This video is best recap of the whole crash issue. He had 2 cards that were unstable on his personal machine while they worked fine on their test bench. Driver fixed both cards. He also reached out to other folks with crash issues and claimed people who he reached out to had their crashing issue fixed via new driver. He also benchmarks new versus old driver and there isn't meaningful different in performance. i.e. fix is not to lower clocks and cripple performance. Interestingly linux driver never had issues, it was always windows only crashes.

these guys are the real deal, humble honest people.

Hardware Unboxed monitor recommendations for RTX 3000 and other future GPUs.

They divide it into several categories: 1440p monitors for high framerates and good image quality, native 4k monitors, ultrawide monitors and 1080p monitors for super high framerates top quality too.

MSI responds to RTX 3080 scalping controversy
Starlit Partner came under scrutiny this week after folks on Reddit noticed the seller shifting MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trios on eBay for well over the MSRP price, with the most recent listing showing bids going above $1,300 USD.
...
Given that Starlit Partner operates under MSI, the fact that this subsidiary was selling brand new GPUs at a hiked price was alarming and quickly spurred a negative reaction across social media. The bad PR is just part of the equation though, as such practices could also put MSI’s partnership with Nvidia at risk.
...
Starlit Partner has been instructed to contact the individual customers who purchased these GPU and offer 2 options – return the product and receive a full refund, or a partial refund of the amount paid over MSI’s MSRP. Moving forward, MSI will enforce a stricter policy to avoid situation like this happening again.”

Update (16:30): MSI has since contacted us to clarify that this is a US-only issue concerning four sold graphics cards in total. Starlit Partners does not operate outside of the US.

We have heard your feedback regarding the NVIDIA online store and are working to improve the experience.

In the meantime, we will be selling our GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Founders Edition through other partners. In the US, you can shop for Founders Edition at Best Buy – GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 . In Europe, we continue to review Founders Edition fulfillment options.

Founders Edition units are limited, and more will be available in the coming weeks alongside an increasing supply of boards from our global board partners.

How is that better for consumers? Do BestBuy even limit number of cards per order or even care about limiting or combating bots?

Yesterday I finally received a GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card from NVIDIA for being able to deliver the first of our Linux benchmarks on the new RTX 30 Ampere series. What is immediately clear is the huge performance uplift for OpenCL and CUDA workloads with the RTX 3080 compared to its predecessors. The raw performance and even performance-per-dollar is staggering out of the GeForce RTX 3080 with the initial tests carried out on Ubuntu Linux. Linux gaming benchmarks will be out in the days ahead but for now is a look at the RTX 3080 compute performance across dozens of benchmarks and going as far back as the GeForce GTX 980 series for comparison.
