NVIDIA Kepler speculation thread

GTX 680 overclocked to 1.9 GHz.

Or by the same token, Nvidia never charges twice as much for the same performing card as AMD (or even a little more, that I see). If so many people only buy Nvidia, they could do that, simple economics.

Where did you study economics? Intel has a stranglehold over the CPU market and still maintains price parity with AMD for equally performing parts.

I have not seen any at any point...a little skeptical of your account.

You aren't too bright sometimes. Go find a 680 on newegg with reviews and you will find verified owners (that means newegg confirmed that newegg shipped product to that person), or do you need me to post a link for you too? Instead of constantly whining about anti-AMD bias and challenging things that are simple to verify, toss in a few clicks and discover new things!

that makes zero sense, we dont have the markets interest so we will price our selves out of the market.... good one there buddy.

also looking at DX 11 GPU's on steam paints the opposite picture

Opposite?!? :???:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.10% 1.26% 1.39% 1.32% 1.55% +0.23%
ATI Radeon HD 6870 0.99% 1.03% 1.09% 1.13% 1.37% +0.24%
ATI Radeon HD 6950 1.05% 1.10% 1.13% 1.35% 1.36% +0.01%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 0.96% 1.01% 1.09% 1.22% 1.33% +0.11%
ATI Radeon HD 6970 - - 0.60% 0.57% 0.65% +0.08%

;)
And then, compare these percents to which market segment each card corresponds to, and its price. ;) And if you can, transform these percents into units sold. ;)

I'm sure a few are floating in and out of stock here and there but it's hardly good availability and certainly AMD got hammered for that.
I'm guessing you don't get around to reading much. Check the enthusiast forums -you'll see people parading screens of their confirmed orders...or if you opt for overnight delivery...(Even that beats the number of customers who got their hands on a HD 7970 by December 23rd)...Just to forestall the pics-or-it-didn't happen post, how about a couple more...or maybe this one...or these two...or this one...

Scroll down to DX11 gpu's. Count the totals up and see AMD cards account for 55%. Ask yourself where that puts your argument that "they don't enjoy higher interest in their products".

I already stated some pop in and out of stock, I knew from reading Hardocp forums regularly that yes, some people have them in their possession. It's still not a good stock situation currently, why even argue this? Personally I hope it changes very soon, if nothing else I'd like to see AMD be forced to do some price chopping.

If anything the reviews also suggest to me that stock is extremely slim, earlier I only saw perhaps one user review for each of the various 680 cards, It seems to me I recall in around the same time frame (1-3 days after hitting availability) 7970 models had a good deal more user reviews than that (even if they also were scarce for a long time after launch, it suggests to me they were quite a bit more of them selling before going out of stock).

Face it, so far the availability has been terrible. Perhaps Nvidia should have priced them higher, free market 101, there are only shortages of anything when the price is held artificially low (ask Canadians why there is waiting lists for their "free" healthcare) . It isn't surprising in the least, we know about 28nm and AMD has had plenty of troubles with stock themselves up until recently.

LMFAO, the first etailer I went to after newegg has 680 in stock:
http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=EV-GTX680

oh noes.

LOL, neglect that it's $80 over MSRP, and some possibly dodgy place I've never heard of? People already know this trick, Tiger Direct has them "in stock" all the time, but if you look closely it says shipping in 7-21 days. People have figured out, Tiger Direct does not actually have any in stock., they are selling the next wave now.

If anything your link proves my point. The only ones in stock command a hefty premium apparently.

He said that even if AMD sold Pitcairn for 150 it would have very little effect on Nvidia because people are so brand loyal to Nvidia, obviously implying people are willing to pay a premium for Nvidia well above it's performance. I pointed out the pricing evidence all around us is that's obviously not true. I wasn't the one saying people will pay a premium based on brand loyalty, he was.

5770 was a sales beast. I personally noticed a lot of online acquaintances buying them in recent times. $100 card that can still run almost anything pretty well. AMD and Nvidia need to try to tap that market vein better.

Rangers, to all me an nv fanboy - assuming you can read my sig - is patently stupid.
You claimed you "still didn't see any on newegg" and then snarked at Hardwarecannuks for commending day 1 availability while 7970 availability came 2 weeks after the release. Are you backing down from that then?

I could have purchased a 680 at $499 on three different checks, including today from TigerDirect - I call that availability. I couldn't not have done the same with the 7970.

Now I don't care either way, I'm only responding to counter your obsessive spin. Were I to buy something today it would actually be a 7970 since it's faster at my resolutions and 680 SLI appears to be crap at these resolutions.

What? Do you even know what economics means?

Nope, I bought my degrees from a guy in a dark alley. Best deal ever!

I agree, nVidia's brand can't compete with a $200 discount. However, the Steam numbers he presented make it quite obvious that higher priced nVidia products are outselling their cheaper competition. In the case of 580vs6970 the gap is significant. Things will seemingly shift further in nVidia's direction with the lack of negatives around Kepler.

The brand has value, just not $200 worth.

No, it's true, Availability has sucked. Just like it did for 7970.

It just bothered me that Canucks would say that when everytime I go to newegg they're straight sold out. If you want to credit them I guess for "hey, they timed the NDA closer to availability" (assuming they get it straightened out in two weeks) I mean OK, I guess. But I dont think AMD promised launch available either, they promised a later date if I recall, and we should judge them on that. Personally I'm all for NDA's being up before availability, though it does get annoying if it's more than a week or two.

Rangers, can we stop flogging this dead horse? I couldn't care less about day 1 availability. The only reason I'm on you is because you accused B3D of being an nvidia biased forum and then you proceed to act like an AMD fanboy by blasting anyone who didn't point out every possible negative aspect of the 680 or trumped anything you saw as favoring nvidia over AMD.

The fact is that the 7970 was released a good 2 weeks before anyone had stock to sell and that the 680 had stock the day it was released and, if either you or I wanted one, we could buy one today so you either acknowledge that (instead of sniping at sites that pointed it out) or, like me, stop caring about it either way since you, like me, don't want either of these cards.

Anyway, sorry to the rest for this thread pollution.

Yeah ok, to get this back on track, is their anything at all about the down lineup keplers? I havent heard a peep. Those are what I'm interested in.
