There could be yield problems, but it depends what absolute value we're looking at. You can have bad yields for a desktop release ($500-600 per card) but still sell the chips in the professional market ($2000+ per card). After all, the GPU only accounts for about 25% of the cards sale price in the desktop segment. GF110 was about $120 and the card was sold for 500 - and that is including margins for the AIBs etc.
