I agree..

Let's stop posting in this thread and let it die! I just hope it never hits page 13. (Learn from the pros, Russ.)

STOP POSTING!!! This thread has just begun o_O . . . We havn't even talked about Nucleate boiling (phase change next to the heat transfer surface with liquied cooling), flow oscilations, flow reversals, channel dryout with high and low heat flux . . . . Gee give us a break here. . . ;)

LOL, oh all right. . . But wait I have heat transfer equations . . . and . . . crap . . . but but no one is interested .

I find that if you smoke in the same room as your computer or have a skin disorder like eczema, (I have mild eczema type symptoms and I smoke.. lucky me), then you will get more than likely a higher build up of dust. Also placing the PC above the floor on a desk seems to reduce the amount of dust build up.

Sorry, were we not meant to post here again?

Too bad I never listened to you guys  sorry

If the GF FX had a filter bag like a hoover dust buster then it would be easy to clean out the filter, plus it could be designed to cut down on the noise.

Nah...they should just have a tightly-packed array of high-powered lasers that "cleanse" anything attempting to enter the cavity, with a warning, "Prevent animals from attempting to sniff laser array."

Not sure what's so surprising about that. Smoke isn't just vapor, it's got all kinds of particles in it (incidentally also what gets sucked into your lungs  ). It's kind of disgusting when you think about it... Anyway, just another reason not to smoke.

Hey..... Nvidia ought to sell the NV30 as some sort of passive quit smoking measure somehow.... that’s brilliant

How many people would be turned off the card if it did require you to open the case, remove the filter, wash it out and vacumm it and then put it back in every 2weeks -

If this was required and this is an if, I would most definitely be turned off. I wouldn't even want to have to shut my computer down once every 2 weeks to reach badk there...and do leave my comp running 24/7. To have to shut down, disconnect all the cables, move a server case (the Addtronics 7896A server case) that's got a sizeable amount of hardware, to actually have to remove the card (in the desert mind you where relative humitdity tends to be rather low; and yes we do have to be extra careful of ESD in a dry climate with not very frequent precipitation, and yes since moving out here in 97, static discharge (that can be felt) is a more common occurence then when I lived back east and by the shore)), remove the filter, do all of that, put it back in, etc... Even if the performance should beat the next gen ATI card that some are speculating will be released next year (or the 9700 for that matter), there are some things that would weigh against a perf increase.

I'm not sure they'd want to make people go through this however...

BTW, not only smoking, but pets as well. When we used to own an Alaskin Malemute (sp?) you would not believe just how much she shedded compared to some dogs unless you've had one yourself. Between her and my dog (more her probably, German Short Haired Pointers have a lot less hair then Malemutes) vacuuming every few days was necessary due to all the dog fur. There was also 3 cats... I don't currently have pets since I moved first into the college dorms and now into an appartment.

If it needs a filter and if you need to clean the filter, you're not going to need to open up or shut down your machine; the filter will be write there in the air intake in the extra slot. Seems like kind of a silly thing to worry about...

I'd be worried about whether my power supply let me run the card stably at full power...

Will you ppl please stop bringing this thread back on topic!!!

Hoping this takes it to 14

Edit: Damn it, how many posts before the next page anyway?

Looks like about 20, Fuz. It'll be a little while yet.

Of course, you could just keep posting the same message over and over, "accidentally" repeating...

Yes.. ATI cards induce bad, evil smoking habits.. whilst NVIDIA cards are a helpful agent in the battle to give up smoking.

Never did say it was surprising Nagorak, I just wanted to mention it cos no one else did (from what I read...) and I am just helping my bid to catch up to Wavey's 2'500 odd posts, not to mention Chalnoth's 1'500 odd posts....

Actually after Wavey Dave I wonder who has the next most posts? :-?

From reading the first several posts in this thread, this is what I have to say:

Since we are on the subject of sucking and blowing, I just want to say that I still don't have a GF.
