Nintendo increases R&D spending - N5 not a GC sucessor ?

The day when physical movements will not be needed and we will all be water-retentive-big-ass-obese geeks. Yay.

Because moving your thumbs burns SOOOOOOO much energy!

I don't think mental movement games could work, unless it was full vr and the images are transmitted to your mind. I think my thoughts would be too conflicted to play right.

Imagine games that you play with your mind, a blend between reality and virtual reality... How many people would run under cars or fall of buildings?

Rare was big on N64. Turok was big on N64.

Rare is nothing this gen, Turok is dead.

Turok IS dead, unfortunately. :( It's strange how they could get so many things right in the first game and so wrong in all the sequels.

I want to be the one to do a remake of the game. Rebalance some of the weapons, spice up the graphics, add more secrets and nifty stuff. Make it so when I look down, I see my own friggin body! :p

That would have been way cool. Original Turok was a masterpiece held back by the crampedness of an 8MB masked ROM cart. A real console wouldn't have that limit.

But the n64 version looked better than the pc version...at least in the demo I have of it, I think it only ran in glide though so I can't run it anymore. But iirc, the special effects were crap compared to the n64 special effects, and it just looked wrong.

At the time it looked mighty fine, much higher resolution than N64 could ever handle, and nice framerates too. Of course i've never compared the special effects side by side, but i must say Turok PC with my good old 3DFX card was very pretty at the time. And fast.

I had both, turok on n64 and on PC. I found that the PC version with glide support looked much better than the N64 version, and ran better too.

I think that anything running on 3dFX hardware at 800x600 would look and run better than 99.99999999999999% of the material on N64.

The game had horrible draw distance though. The fog hiding the draw in was what seemed like 7 meters ahead of you. In that sense it had poor draw distance compared to other PC first person shooters.

Definately. But then, it was never really a real problem in terms of gameplay. Just a bit ugly to look at...
Gosh, playing Farcry today makes u wonder how far we've gone in just 10 years or so...

You can play farcry? with all this talk on the net about it, I thought it was just a benchmark program ;)

Yeah, you can go around, look at the shiny water, look at the nice shadows, look at the nice environments, the nice shaders!!! Oh i forgot, you can also run and shoot things! Aint it cool!?
