* Next Generation Cards - will they need 4.5+ GHz CPUs?

AMD's move to 64 bit on the desktop was a good decision, but 64 bit processing has been around far too long to call it a generational change.
It does things other than just add 64-bit processing, so it's definitely a generational change. But no, I don't expect another new generation within the next couple of years.

Judging from all the silly reactions, I have hit a sore spot regarding OpenGL :p

Go ahead and call me names, and pretend you don't know what I mean (or are you not pretending, and are you really that thick?).
Calling me names isn't going to change the OpenGL issues.

I have nothing more to add, because I have already given all the answers before, they just haven't been read, or understood.

As for Davepermen, if you want to call someone dumb, at least spell it right :)

we understand your points. but, other than you, we understand as well that they are simply plain wrong.

oh, and the dump, that is sort of a reflex..

you haven't hit anything in opengl. but you hit the people in here with your behaviour, thats all. you got on our nerves.

I'd say anything "interesting" will always be more or less CPU-limited because there are so many cool things you can spend CPU-time on, fluid dynamics, better rigid body physics, soft bodies like cloth and jello, procedural animation of stuff like leaves and trees etc. Graphics demos will probably never require lots of CPU but my guess is games will always do. Especially since most PCS still have very fast CPUs and crappy graphics (3GHz P4 with integrated Intel Extreme graphics).

You'll always be able to stress the GPU by upping stuff like resolution and AA but I doubt any games will truly stress the newest GPUs ever.

Well, you can be quite rude yourself, and some of your answers doesn't quite make sense. The following dialogue illustrates both points:

Btw, the Thief 3 demo crashed. After the incident, my desktop refresh rate was somehow at 60 Hz ... you really should blame OpenGL for that, too, while you're at it.
Correct, this would never have happened with a D3D application. Sadly you lack the comprehension.
Thief 3 is purely a DirectX Graphics game.
