Next Gen Killer Instinct?

After seeing the hints dropped about here and there in recent Rare games does anyone else feel dissapointed about not seeing this title at all last e3? I certainly hope they bring this title up to date with the same futuristic and gritty style as the original. And with todays tech they can render the entire thing realtime. What would you all like to see?

1) fully 3d realtime env/characters
2) the original characters along with perhaps a few new additions
3) use of the euphoria engine for smooth physics based animation
4) destructable environments
5) dynamic camera for special moves/combos
6) multiple env dependant finishing moves
7) live play
8) 4 player "tag in" capability w/live
9) highly stylized fx (like the original - not realistic but not cartoon like)
10) a launch date

Ms has to leave some bullets in the gun for X05 and TGS. I wouldnt consider the announcements at E3 'the end' until next year. IF you figure Rare can be working on 2 projects at a time, theres the VIva Pinata team, and some folks just wrapping up PDZ content/patch. That leaves "team 2" left to be working on something. I'd like to see a new banjo game and/or KI personally. I'm surprised theyve ignored these brands for even this long...

Banjo would be friggin beautiful - but they already have viva pinata fired up for this year. I wouldn't think they'd do two games marketed for this market at the same time. Not that I'd be complaining. Speaking of that, Why the heck would they not want to do a banjo sequel instead of taking a risk on this pinata game? I give them credit for not going all sequelitus on everyon but still ... seems they could've killed two birds with one stone by making a new banjo that could be marketed to the kids and fans of the original and platformers in general.

Pinata will have a TV show for kids to tie into the game as well as lots of toys to cross promote. I guess if they felt that banjo was capable of being a lynchpin game in this type of intitiative they may have considered it.

True - huge potential for big profits - but the potential to fail is also there. We'll see how it turns out this xmas.

Personally I say Bring on KI3!!!

Some people don't like certain games and that's fine but I'd love to hear his input as to why it would be a horrible idea to put this option on the shelves for gamers.

I guess I could just never get into the gameplay. It definitely isn't for everyone.

Also, I have trouble seeing how they could make a Killer Instinct that maintains what made Killer Instinct unique, without making it seem extremely dated in comparison to today's mor epopular fighting game series (i.e. SC/VF).

As for why I'd rather they not bother, the resources could be used for some else :p I dunno, maybe a kart racing game, hehe.

True they would have to update the play mechanics but a good portion of the "updated" gameplay could come from being the first fighting game to use physics based animation. If fight night 3 had used this it would have been a real showstopper. Not that it was bad just that to me the gameplay was/is lacking. Don't underestimate the impact that the game environment could have for this game.

Does it really need updating? Why fix something that isn't broken? To me, it would make it a unique title, and would satisfy the fans. Look at what's happening to Shadowrun, which dearly did not deserve their monstrous updates thus far.

Another kart game would be kinda good though. :D I guess they'd need to use a mix of characters for which they already own the IPs and new characters that people can still recognize.

Hmm, i wonder if MS is at the point where they have enough IP where they could support a kart or smash bros type of game with their own characters? I'd love to use voodoo vince in a cart!

Yes, a Kart racing gaming would be excellent. I play Mario Kart with my wife on a regular basis. Any console without a good kart racing game is BAD! And the 360 could use some more titles that appeal to a wider demographic. That got Kameo and Viva Pinata is coming. Toss in a next-gen Diddy Kong Racing and Banjo and you have a pretty solid core of 1st party games there for the younger demographic.

Btw, Rare just did release a new diddy kart game (or will be) for the NDS. I liked the Diddy game because there were boats, karts, and biplanes. A GREAT game!

Also, Rare has 3 internal teams if I remember correctly.

It would be a delicate balancing act to perhaps ADD to the established gameplay core so as not to alienate the fans of the original. I think if they push this title to its full potential and have it at kiosks (for sale or not) at eb/bestbuy, fans and people who never heard of the original would be very impressed. I don't think there are any games on the market like it as far as I know.

Bring it out already Rare!

Sorry Acert, but RC Pro Am rules them ALL!

I loved RC Pro Am, but part of the charm was its simplicity. Revolt (PC) was a solid RC game, so maybe MS would get another dev to work on such a license? I guess an RC game, done right, could be very, very cool. It also could bomb if not done right! But I would rather an established racing developer (like Bizzare) do that. They would have the skills, experience, focus, and assets to get more bang for buck out of such a title.

Rare should be locked up to work on Conkers, another Kameo, and Viva Pinata... and maybe planning the next PD, this time having a working art direction that matches the graphic technology.

Another Mortal Kombat? I hope not

Killer Instinct != Mortal Kombat

I could see another mortal kombat doing well if they did it right. From what I've heard they're on the right track and have done well recently with their franchise getting a bit of a revival.

Why wouldn't you like to see another Killer Instinct?

guys - nobody can/will touch the true king of the crown when it comes to cart games. honestly who's even close to snes mario kart?

Are you sure? They released Banjo Pilot on the GBA, which just planes, and I can't imagine that Nintendo would let them use Diddy Kong anymore.

how many kart games actually are there these days? maybe like 2-3? Now that we are on the subject of remaking old fighters, I wouldnt mind seeing mortal kombat remade to be more like the orginal 3.
