Why don't people realise it is F2p... Lol.

I really love all the free to play announcement s. It's like the future of demo discs we used to get on ps1 from Pizza Hut XD

Just because its f2p doesn't mean it'll be available at launch or as wanted, pre-installed.

I hope they do more than porting DCUO, the franchise has great potential but need to get revamped, the world is way too lifeless.

Maybe the discussions about F2P can be move elsewhere.

To go on topic Daylight, previously only announced for PC, is now coming on PS4.

Uh oh, Thuway just busted out some big ones on GAF. Pre e3 monster leaks beginning?

I want GAF to prepare for the worst, so I'm going to put this out here right now:

PlayStation World will be a tiered premium service. Most likely paywall will be there. Still unclear if the most basic functions aren't behind a pay wall, but MOST features will be.

Price of the system should be $429 low end-- $529 (larger hd + camera + better finishing?).

I know its been posted before, but it's mostly right. If you are ok with the price, everything else should make you happy.

This information is a bit old and NOTHING new has come. I know Bruce is on the case trying to figure things out as well, but I think there will be an online play paywall. The tiered plan I am hearing will be-

A. Basic online play / cross game chat / streaming. (30 a year)

B. All of A. + PS Plus discounts / games (60 a year)

C. Gaikai Streaming (100 dollars a year)

Numbers were guesses, and this info is from a week AFTER PS Meeting.

Bet thuway just turned from "worlds most reliable source (rumors of Durango underclock) to heinous charlatan (rumors of PS4 pay online)

$429 is actually not bad at all if that includes a decent size HDD. Not bad at ALL considering a decent PC gfx card alone costs that.

$529 is scarily close to 599 though for PR purposes.

No idea if these are true but I do KNOW Gddr5 aint cheap, at all.

I cant imagine Gakai costing $100 a year. And if online is 30/year they can say "we're less than MS" (but at that point it's a matter of degree, and MS does have a better network)

Edit: Apparently Kotaku had reported similar things before? Had not heard that.

I don't know you but I take the fact that Sony has announced 2 free-to-play games for PS4 this week as a sign that they are not going to ask $30 for basic online play.

No doubt they will ask something for PS Cloud/Gaikai.

Already debunked by a mod.As for today basic online gaming still free.

As predicted thuway no longer reliable

Update 2
thuway recants his initial statements

It wasn't debunked was it, just lambasted as "old" and locked.

Edit: A mod did say something like "I heard online play is free".

Well e3 is near anyway.

Oh boy, it begins. This would be a real bummer if all my consoles need pay to play online games :(

I don't really mind paying to play online TBH - as long as the service does get you something, i.e. an improvment over what PS3 is offering today. I would definately like the possibility that game-saves and login are globally accessable without having to 'create a local username' on the system. More like a way to use your login from another persons PS4 by simply login in over the internet and accessing your trophies, gamestats and especially game-saves. That would make it quite attractive if I were to go to friends place to show a cool game and have immediate access to my game-saves without having to rely on USB-sticks or stupid games that copy-protect their game-saves.

It would be nice if these things are actually handled on a global layer that Sony dictates and not independantly by every game. I want a consistent experience this time and if I have to pay for that, fine by me.

Anyone not already paying for plus is not all there anyway.

Still this gaikai stuff for £10 more than I already pay seems like a good deal.

:mad::mad:
This is the equivalent of an oligopoly cartel. I hope its not true
This generation will probably be marked as the worst next gen console revelation ever.
WiiU, XBone and now PS4?

Gaikai is on the menu ? Interesting. What will it offer ? Play old PS games on other platforms ?

I haven't much time for games. What's the point in paying for PSN+ for me then? And with little time for games, the fact I don't get taxed to play Starhawk or Uncharted 3 online on those rare moments means I still get to enjoy them. If I had to shell out a significant fee for a feature I'll use sporadically, I may as well not bother.

IMO monetising online should be about getting people online and then selling them stuff. Like the F2P model, if it's free to enter you'll engage with the most potential customers.

The point is to get more than you pay for. There's plenty of games I've enjoyed because of plus that I would never have bought like sleeping dogs and deus ex.

I certainly feel more inclined to buy the dlc for games I received through plus.

If you've only room for a 6 oz steak at $10, what good is buying a 12 oz steak for $15 even if it's better value? You just waste $5 on food that's going in the trash. Hence no matter what value PSN+ offers, it's a waste for me, and it's not a case that I'm 'not all there.' Quite the contrary, it's because I'm all there that I know not to spend money on something that's no value to me. ;)

It's a subscription service for gamers.

I left it running for some pocket of free time in an unspecified future, or when my kid is old enough to play some of these titles. By that time, I would have a lot of free games to choose from.
