Full height drives have a mechanical limit of 10000 RPM, which is 12x CAV for bluray.I'm curious, why can a CAV drive be slimmer than a PCAV drive?
Slim drives (laptop), have a limit of 5000 RPM, so it's 6x CAV.
The problem with PCAV (partial CAV) is it's allowed to exceed 5000 RPM to keep a reasonable bitrate in the inner half of the disc, and a constant bitrate in the outer half.
