Assuming they are going with a 2 SKU strategy, one of those SKUs must cost less than $449 to avoid the 2nd SKU being $599. Sony CANNOT repeat having a poor PS3 launch on its hands. And since the standard pricing model has usually been $100 apart, it really is either $399/$499, $429/$529 or $449/$549.

My issue is thinking of what else besides hard drive space can be bundled to separate SKUs. The previous tricks to increase SKU price like having WiFi or card readers aren't good differentiators anymore. PS+? PS3/PSVita content isn't very useful to a PS4 owner. Remote? Meh. Headset? Even a cheap one should be included in every box. Perhaps the higher end SKU will have Bluetooth headset.

Mono headset is already confirmed for every unit. Most obvious differentiator will likely be the PS4 Eye. They have been non-committal on whether or not it will be included with every unit. Pricing would be the obvious reason. They've already committed to the memory upgrade, so If they find the cost increase for that is too great I would expect them to drop the Eye from the base unit.

Some other random bundle opportunities though:
  • Move
  • PS Vita! (very high end bundle)
  • Family Bundle (Move, Game, and Movie)

I wonder if SSD will greatly change loading performance more on PS4. It sounded like it made a moderate difference on PS3 but I hope its even more a better change from standard HDD on PS4.

If it does I can get the lower SKU and just upgrade the HDD right away maybe. Unless the bigger SKU is a good deal then I'll wait to upgrade.

Speed of the SSD would be nice to have, but also big capacity is needed (1TB min.) services like PS Plus can fill up HDD quite fast.

With so much RAM in the PS4, developers can use it as cache for HDD operations.

ROFL!

It's the nozzle of the teleportation beam. The fricking lazer from TRON.
There's no size reference, maybe it's a huge circular dance pad.

Some of the pictures in there appear to be of the controllor so that could be a speaker on the controller.

Eh ? We have already seen the speaker grill on the controller. It's just a group of small holes at the top; not as intrusive as that circular thing.

As patsu mentioned the DS4 speaker grill was also shown in the same video:

Change the DS4 speaker grill? Nah, that's shown in the teaser as well, and its much the same as it was at the reveal.

If that mock up is like the real thing then this is shaping up to be the ugliest generation yet. Drive slot in the centre. Really? That's just wrong...
