^^ their incapabilites in software is not limited to PS division :D

from my experience, it never corrupt stuff. But it will take checkdisk for minutes (really long time, much slower than PC).

And I am certain that this will have a negative impact on the PS4 momentum: all the X360 people switching to PS4 because of the more powerful hardware won't be happy about the constant issues. This bad news could spread quite fast via friendlist and turn people to the weaker console...

Sounds like they needed more time to flush out rest-wake bugs.

They are probably making major changes under the hood while trying to keep existing apps compatible.

I hope so. I hope they sort these issues out in the next week. But I would be really pissed if during Xmas my play time gets corrupted due to Sony issues.
 
btw YouTube app on PS4 annoyingly SUSPEND a game that is still running. this is awful because by the time you resume the game, Destiny will already time out and kick you to start screen.
 
Destiny is not a good example. It's a online-only game that intentionally disconnects quickly as soon as user is not interacting with it.

Next week sounds too close. They will need time to test their new fixes too. I'd expect at least a month's wait.

What if they are trying to do a branch from Android over time ? :p They won't touch the OS without good reasons.

it do kick you out to orbit but not to start screen. it kick to start screen if the game really lost connection to server.

try opening game, then youtube app. it will warn you that the game will be "suspended".
basically it make the youtube app useless. i still use the web browser to multitask between game and youtube :D
 
The Youtube app is already near useless on the PS4. Text entry in particular is a flustercluck (just use the provided OS qwerty pop-up already Google) and even something as crucial as using transport controls are implemented in a counterintuitive and finicky manner.

Reminds me of Crunchyroll's recent redesign of their Roku client.

Oh come on. If Apple - APPLE!!! Hello!! Multi-billion profits, much more experienced and capable software producer - can release an iOS update that pretty much f*cks up everyone's phone, Sony should really feel little remorse, being a primarily hardware company, in releasing an update that might be troublesome for some people.
Blown out of proportions, yet again, just like the iOS issues which have far wider reach.
 
i have triggered the standby/rest bug 2 times in a row.

1. turn on PS4 usb charge for 3 hours
2. go to rest mode
3. its stuck

after that

1. turn on PS4
2. got o rest mode
3. its stuck

i have not tried the 3rd time, gotta go out of town in a few minutes >_<

If you're going to release devices with software, the software needs to be good. I have no idea how widespread this issue is, but it seems to be fairly prevalent. Apple releasing garbage is not an excuse for other companies to release buggy software. And to be clear, my expectation is not bug free software all the time. Bugs are going to happen. It's pretty much impossible to release software without some bugs.

Is it related to the USB timer? I haven't experienced anything weird with 2.0, and i use "suspend"
 
i do think it related to USB because after update 2.0, my PS4 often cannot stop screaming "USB UNSUPPORTED" on top-left screen then suddently it just stop but it will appear again on next boot. (the duration and when it pop-up is random).

hmm. i gotta try going to standby without charging anything :D
 
That could be it too - I haven't had the issue once yet, but I charge my two DS4s on a nice charging stand that has its own power.

I guess I'm lucky, I went into standby twice, once even used remote play to wake up, and all the while charging controllers. (I'm not using the USB power save feature tho)
 
I havent had the stand by bug yet "crosses fingers" and I charge my controls with my Ps4. Its never in stand by longer than 3 hours though. I switch it completely off if I'm not going to use it for awhile.
