Yes, but [I'm almost sure that] in Settings user can pick what is default behavior for power button on the console itself. Mine console always go to rest mode when I turn it off with that physical button.

Thanks, I didn't realise you could do that! I always navigated back to the Home screen and shut down from the menu.

I'm glad this fixed already given I bought GTA V digitally and that's a 50Gb download that I'd definitely want to preload before launch. That's a seven hour download for me.

Lol I hope not! I have a ps4 at a rental property so I was hoping it wouldn't get bricked, hence why all the questions. Seems like when left at default settings it wouldn't be an issue though, and hopefully 2.01 resolves the issue anyways.

Just in case, I think it is an option. The front button turn it off. The power down via timeout also turns it off. I think the only way to use rest mode is to chose it during the long press. If there is a way to make it the default, I have not seen it.
 
Guess who just got a free PS4!

This actually means all the Sony consoles I've had (PS1, PS3, PSP) I hadn't had to pay for (all were either gifts, prizes or promotional giveaways).

I haven't set it up yet, but I really hope they patch in video playback off storage media so I can get rid of my PS3 - any news on this front?
 
im dreaming Sony beat MS' video player on x1 by making a player like on x1 but added with all the stuff they have on laptop/tablet/phone/television division.

X-reality engine (auto sharpen, reduce artefact, colour), smooth motion stuff (forgot the name), etc.
while im dreaming, also adopt the Xperia music LED to PS4. Will be awesome to be used on PS4 on top of my table while listening musics.
 
okay im on 2.01 and it seems it do fixed the rest mode but still keeping the borked PSP license. Today i need to close-and-open Destiny again 3 times in a row. and in evening, 2 times in a row.
 
Blargh! Sony releae 2.02 for 217MB.
cant they simply stop releasing firmware so rapid with no new features.... pool the update together for 1 big ass update with full-blow feature. Limit it to once per month or something...

The .01 releases are usually bug fixes. Annoying if you're not affected by the issue, welcome relief if you are :)

Apparently without that update, Dragon Age: Inquisition won't run. Not all these updates have been mandatory, by the way.
 
2.01 should have come asap because of wide spread problem with rest mode. Now there is a problem with DA so fix is required asap too.
 
unfortunately 2.02 was mandatory. it kicked me out of PSN saying i must update. if it for fixing DA, cant they just pop the update when people have DA in their PSN account or when they pop in a disc?

btw now im curious what sony has done with 2.00. Why it break some games. hmm.
