Looks like an early version of the controller. The blue light in the back ¿Bye bye Move?

The new sticks looks a lot better. Hopefully the triggers have been redesigned too :p

Backtouchpad? Some other builtin feature? Arghhh hate all this rumours and speculation.

PD: This guy do talk a lot with sony devs, i'd say they are a reliable source.

Dual 3D Cameras under the touch pad like leap motion & the patent that I posted.

So instead of the PS Eye tracking finger gestures, a camera in the controller would... ala Leap Motion.

Looks like they're trying to cover all the motion bases with several parts. Dual eye for environment mapping, combined with Move light for player tracking, ultrasonic for distance measuring and tracking fallback(?), and leap motion in the controller for minority reporting.

Yeah, mechanical click fits. If you can move an on-screen cursor with your finger sliding across the touch pad and then press down harder to signify a button press, you'd have a nice improvement to normal touch pads, and it'd be usable without being a screen.

Nice.

Assuming the listed features are correct, does that mean lower battery life and a way more expensive controller that the current dual shock?

If "digital" means a binary state switch then personally I would be very glad to see L2/R2 go that route. Having analog on the bottom rear buttons is a misfeature that constantly gets triggered when putting down the controller. Particularly annoying when streaming and you accidentally trigger transport controls.

Cheers

Lower battery life or larger battery, take your pick. I'd bet on larger battery though, you wouldn't want to have lower battery life for a dedicated controller.

And definitely more expensive to manufacture than the current one. Sony could choose not to pass on the costs to the consumer, but considering their financial state, that may not be a feasible option.

Battery consumption should be higher if all the controller features are used. As for battery life, it depends on battery size and technology. No idea about price.

EDIT: Beaten again !

They could put it on the underside near to where your useless middle fingers sit.

I like this design a lot

That would be a better location for a dedicated button which serves the purpose of taunting your opponent in games, or making a rude gesture, or a dedicated tea bagging button. :D

SB

Hope the final has the start and select (or option and share) buttons a bit further away. Seems like they're in accident range.

Has there been any confirmation from other sources that the aluminum box behind is the January dev kit?
The two black squares on each side could be the two cameras... that would be a very wide pupil distance for stereoscopy.
