New PDZ Movies!

Out of curiosity what do you consider the "last gen roots"? I say color palette though thats not a technical thing but rather an art thing... what do you mean? Alot of times I think our knowledge of where and when a game was designed colors our opinions a bit... Just trying to understand your perspective.

It looks like they haven't done much in the way of interactivity.
If you look at modern FPS like HL2, FEAR, Far Cry the trend seems to be moving towards more immersion.
At least the parts shown in the video all look like the traditional tight corridor FPS that we've seen this gen. The way that it switches to a cutscene when she glides across the rooftops that's all very "this gen".

Of course we haven't seen everything. I'd like to see more stuff like Joanna wandering through a populated city complete with crowds reacting to the action. Something that looks a little more next gen.
Somehow I dont think we're going to get that. But that doesn't mean it wont be a solid FPS.

Really, the footage makes me scratch my head because it is clear that IGN and some others saw something similar to this at E3.

Actually IGN said that it looked nearly as good as Gears of War, so IMO they saw something better because while PDZ looks good, it's no GOW. Or maybe the video hides an amazing amount of detail, but I doubt it. Or maybe the reporters just got a bit carried away. Oh well, we'll soon find out.

OK seismologist. Gotcha... I agree with your immersion statement wholeheartedly. Optimally I would like it if a game didnt play like a game. I mean someone like Joanna Dark in the real world (in a future sense of course) would be walking the streets by day as any other normal chick with aliases etc doing normal life things... she would be fairly low profile and only occasionally would she encounter targetted resistance...

I think a game that has the spy living their lives, minus the boring minute by minute stuff would be cool. A day by day agenda of things to do (certain espionage, nightlife, breakins, where some work, some dont, developing relationships with suppliers traders, other spies snitches, etc) to accomplish a certain strategic goal by the end of the game (as opposed to a BOSS) would "grow up" the genre considerably.

To many times FPS' are run and gun featured. Whole cities are on high alert and/or deserted, massive firefights.... In a modern city setting, conflict should be randomized and could incorporate things like derelicts, snitches etc who are taking note of you and your whereabouts and passing information back and forth to who ever is asking or paying.

What may be a wednesday night at the club for JD with some boytoy, may turn into an aggressive powerplay on the part of some boss... I dunno.... stream of consciouness there but immersive elements like that would definitely move all gameplay up a notch.

I can't believe people are stil bitchin about the physics!!

It was a DEBUG build, and the physics were not full implemented.

The only problem with the animation are that everyone looks like they are on the moon, gravity is obviously well below 1G, also the AI isn't even turned on, so how can you judge the gameplay??

I wish people would just use a little more common sense when viewing works in progess, is the game realy gonna ship with physics like that? Of coursse not. Will it have non-apparent AI? Of course not.

Take a look at the character models, *drool*, the draw distance, the size of the environments, the amazing surfaces, the very cool 3rd person views.

p.s. I just read that this game will include the RCP-90.....remember from Goldeneye?? Only the best damn gun ever made! sweeeet

I cant believe people are still bitching about a game theyre watchign through video on a camera phone. Can't we just wait a week and see the video MS INTENDED us to see?

I kinda wish this was never leaked.

Thats the problem with leakage (not in that way ) if you see an unappealing video of the product..it makes you go..hmm...why does it loook like that. BUT....when a Direct Feed trailer comes out....it blows you away that much more. So its a good and a bad thing.

Ya and Halo showed exactly how damaging a bad trailer can be......

I don't think the hype train is that important when all is said and done, if a game is a hit, it's a hit, the quality of the game is what really matters.

Agreed. In this case i think seeing another 'work in progress' video will mute the 'wow' factor a good direct feed video may have had next week. MS has had to deal with that since E3, imagine if the TGS Kameo videos were the first ones we saw... wow. :)

What are you trying to say here? ;)

That way we will only see the 4 best moments (I really hope that it is not the "only") of the game, so I think I prefer some more "unofficial" video.

That's something I hate about offical content trailers (not teaser trailers), movies as well as games. They're cut to present the product in the best possible way and don't show what the game/film is really like. You know you're seeing the best possible bits and the majority of the game/film could well be less 'impressive'. I've known games and films that look/sound good in official trailers and definitely aren't as good in the full product. I'd rather just see unofficial gameplay footage to judge a game.
