Pete, the "TT&L chip" hasn't been proven BS, but hasn't been proven anything else either. AFAIK, nobody has linked the proposition to any communication from Nvidia or card vendors.
It doesn't make sense anyway. 3dfx's separate TCL chip (The SAGE) was to be coupled with "simple" rasteriser chips (Rampage and later Fusion), but Nvidia hasn't had those (just rasterisers without TCL) since TNT2U...
Now, a separate TCL chip for Kyro, that would be dandy 8) Say a hypothetical "ELAN 2" TCL/AGP-bridge chip coupled to one or two Kyros on a single card. (At least until the STMicro issue gets resolved and their next gen has a chance of getting (fully developed and) manufactured.)
