Who is the model Nariku's face is based on?

She has very good bone structure.

WOW! thats a Heavenly quality.
A deep request to our beloved DeanoC and nAo, is this somefin playable in the game?

Why aren't we talking about this?

 It confuses me.

It's claimed to be a "real", but it looks alot uh... different from not only every other current game, but all other available shots of HS.

If I didn't know the NT guys were on here, I'd be yelling horseshit. But since they are, I guess I want to hear some reasonable discussion on whether or not this (screenshot) is possible. Or perhaps what compromises would need to be made to make it possible. For example, could the PS3 simply rending a face and not much else do this?

What exactly make it look so real and is that possible in real time?

My guess? Awesome artists with some technical understanding coupled with great graphics programmers who are also good artists.

I've always been a fan of doing nitpicking comparisons with either photos/movies or offline renders to see the subtle things that make graphics look realistic. However, you need an artist's eye to see where your product needs to be improved and good spatial thinking and 3D graphics understanding to correct it. Heck, even making offline renders look that realistic isn't a piece of cake. You really need to get the right people working together in the right way.

These sort of graphics have been doable for many years (I'd say since R300), and I've been waiting and waiting for someone to get a nice look in realtime. Congrats to Ninja Theory on getting it done!

It was talked about quite a bit already... by Marco and Deano even.

Thank you, Sirs !

Check this out what Yahoo has to say about the screenshot.

Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword was one of the first PS3 games we saw in action at last year’s E3. Also it was one of the first to make us wonder what all the fuss was about, as it hardly seemed to demonstrate the machine’s supposedly superior capabilities. But let’s not get into that debate all over again...

Anyway, things have been rather quiet on the Heavenly Sword front in recent months, and here’s the reason why – they’ve been busy finessing the game and creating stuff like this, a single, supposedly in-game screenshot showing the game’s fiery-headed heroine Nariko in contemplative repose. Or something like that. Good, isn’t it? The Ninja Theory dude who posted this on the company’s official forum (www.ninjatheory.com/forums) reckons the shot is from an in-game cut-scene, but is resized and treated in order to make very appealing desktop wallpaper.

Well obviously this screen hasn’t come from any proper gameplay sections, but hats off to Ninja Theory’s CG artists, whoever they are for this is stunning work. Alas, Nariko’s lavishly-rendered cut-scene visage bears chuff-all (technical term) resemblance to her in-game counterpart – see our other screens for evidence of that. Ah well, we might add something cynical here about having to get used to little disappointments where the PS3 is concerned but, well, that just doesn’t seem to hold true any more does it?

Pretty funny that they think they know better than the Dev's themselves.

Truth be told thought, with soo many bullshots around it would be criminal to not be a bit sceptical...

Sure, even the Dev's admitted there was some post processing done to the screenshot but I don't think Ninja Theory would lie about a screenshot that its actually in-game engine screenshot and no CGI used when everyone can see it themselves when the game is out. It would not be worth it. :)

Look at all the other screenshots they say.....

None of them even show her face or are really old anyway. Some of them are so crappy looking it looks like they took them with a camera phone with a poxy VGA camera that's about 10 years old

Who's who in this pic though?
