Ok... I think she's voted as one of the prettiest actresses in Japan but Nariko's face needs strength. I thought Ms. Nakama's performance in Shinobi didn't quite have the omph...

I didn't know that she's voted as such, but I haven't been following Japanese entertainment news at all since university started. I remember her acting was pretty good. But regardless, I'm not sure what it matters how her performance was, its just a face and they can morphy / animate it however they want. It doesn't have to be her face either, it could be a mix. You seem to be into the Japanese entertainment maybe you've heard of a movie called Azumi. If I remember correctly the girl in that could be a good candidate.

Or maybe this is just my Japanese side focusing on the facial features...

I'm probably the only one in this forum that thinks that for an asian girl she looks mediocre to average.
As far as I can see in this pic and the newer package pic her bone structure looks African to me. The name Nariko sounds like a fake Japanese name so I thought the designer had deliberately mixed various exotic elements to build a fantasy world.

Blame it on Manga and Anime... then the babes on Japanese magazines, then a Japanese-English dictionary, then ...

Azumi ? May be you're refering to Aya Ueto. If that's the one, she looks like a teenager (perhaps as Nariko's younger sister). I think Nariko is more convincing and will have broader appeal. :D

I am curious to know who she's modelled after too.

She does look more international but regardless... she's hot ! NT may have trouble keeping the pervs at bay after Heavenly Sword launches. I saw two animated GIFs >_<

Hmm I don't see African, high cheek bones are a trait of Asians too, but that nose... not too sure.

Thats exactly it. I had not been able to pin down what was going on but I think thats exactly it. The odd name combined with a bone structure isn't asian and yet the facial features copy western asian stereotypes.

So she's American then? That's hardly a race. She's definitely of African descent. Nationality and race are hardly the same thing, especially in such a multicultural society.

Although given the blend of nationalities in America and the amount that exist in the traditional American, I think that America/Americans may be able to be considered a race. Although this is a very opinionated topic, I read something rather interesting on the concept not too long ago.

Sorry for my rant.

Impressions from GDC:

http://www.psu.com/node/8727

The game had dazzling visual effects, such as depth of field, motion blurring and amazing anti-aliasing, and it also had much improved textures over the last time I saw the game in action at TGS 2006. The lighting was incredible, and the camera angles and physics were nothing short of superb.

Getting this thread back on track.

Thanks!!

Being a technical demo of course, it is unlikely that the footage shown was from the actual development version of their engine. Often times a developer will gloss over some of their current jobs on a title in order to make a demo that seems nearly complete. The footage shown, however, was nothing short of impressive, demo or not. While the footage wasn’t final, the demo looked excellent, and seemed as if it had the potential to be one of the most visually impressive games to date.

So what is the reason for the delay anyways?

More content creation?

Have they ever talked about downloadable content further down the line?

You can see Sony promoting this character as a mascot, like that chick fighter in PS1.

There have been dicussions that the game will come out before October. Many people are starting to believe that it is not going to be a Fall game but rather a late Summer game.

If some other big PS3 games slip past this year, they might push this one back to the Holidays to make it one of their featured Xmas releases.

If it's ready and they can release earlier, that might mean better knews about games like MGS or FF releasing this year instead of later.
