However, in GTA4 case tha game is being developed simultanously for both platforms, but downloadable content is exclusive only to one platform, you can be sure that there is some sort of agreement between developer and platform producer. We don't know details of it. So now that publisher lists downloadable content exclusive for 360, it doesn't automatically mean there will be retail version of it for PS3 (or it will be included in game's reedition for ps3). Hence I wrote it's baseless assumption.

Agreed.

We all know there is some sort of deal between Take 2\Rockstar and Microsoft, so speculating that a content pack that has been annouced so many times as exclusive by both R* and MS themselves will be on another plattform is a baseless assumption.

A Take-Two spokesperson has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that the episodic content planned for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusively released for the Xbox 360.

Also:

The financial report also stated that fellow Take-Two title LA Noire is due out in fiscal 2008. The spokesperson suggested that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases are likely, stating, "LA Noire is being developed for next-generation systems."

Actually, Microsoft spent 50 million.

Thank you. And as it relates to the deferred revenue chunk associated with the episodic content on X-Box 360, you can see that $25 million of that moved into short-term deferred. Could you give us any sense of when that’s going to hit the P&L? Will we see $25 million at one time and then the second 25 or will it be a slow bleed?

Lainie Goldstein

The first 25 is for the first episodic content package that’s supposed to go out and that is in March of ’08. That’s why it moved into current because it’s in the next 12 months. The second 25 will be for the second episodic, the episode, and that will be later in fiscal ’08.

It's not that much really. The downloads will be 800 points minimum.

On top of that, it will sell 360's...

it's up to publisher how many points to charge, but as we know microsoft invested in the content, we guess microsoft will charge points to earn back investment. this has to be min 3000p overall
joking

If this episodic content is supposed to release with 1 year between them, that could suggest the content being pretty major. Which could very well sell for 2000+ points. Like Shivering isles

The EC DLC will sell boatloads I am pretty sure. This is a lot of money though however. I am thinking that these will be full fledged add on content on just your extra 2-3 map type.

Quite a bit of money for the content but if marketed well it should increase on not only online distribution sales but over a multitude of areas. Exclusive content should also sale hardware, live subscriptions and with those sales continue increasing profits for periphrials, games, dlc sales etc. Of course this means next to nothing if the consumers arent aware that the 360 does indeed have exclusive content associated with the title.

For some reason I was under the assumption that MS's contract included other content outside of just the exclusive GTA downloadable additions.

Wonder if it will be whole new areas to download or just extra missions, mini missions, "jumps" and other minigames like tag collecting for extra weapons and vehicles.
New missions would be kinda "meh", I usually am sick and tired of a GTA game already for a while after completing the game 100%.
New radio stations and music would be nice though.
Edit: Ok, so it'll be "episodes", so sounds like some collection of missions.
