New GhostRecon 3 screenshots(no 56K)

The GPU in the Xbox 360 should allow for graphics with pixel quality greater than than Half-Life 2 on the PC. The visuals in Ghost Recon will be excellent without a doubt. The game is being created by a worldclass developer with a massive amount of talent/resources at their disposal. A built from scratch engine named YETI to take advantage of next-gen console hardware. The PC version is going to use a different engine.

As far as physics goes, Ghost Recon is going to use Novadex, which is multi-threaded in order to take advantage of the multi-core CPU's in next-gen consoles and PC's. The physics effects in game should be much more sophisticated than whats in Half Life 2.

That goes with out saying . Valve designed the source engine around dx 8 . It had support for dx 7 and dx 9 support. Early on it even had dx 6 support . This game will be custom built around dx 9 and the enchaments over dx 9 that the xenos has .

If you're talking strictly FPS, then Unreal Championship had some deformable water that reacted to players and projectiles. UT2k3/4 seem to have gotten rid of that in some of the same maps though, but it is supported in the engine.

Ok but how did the water actually look? Did it look realistic?

you're missing the point i think...

London Boy was just saying that the Water technology in half life 2 (ie, everything regarding the water, from visual effects to physics) is good but not amazing due to it being let down on the physics (or rather the interactive physics) side. were half life 2 to combine it's water visuals with a equally impressive interactive side then it would have "amazing water technology"

He is not saying there are games with better "looking" water (ie from a purely visual standpoint), he is saying there are games which have a better overall "water technology" - ie they may not be as pretty as half life 2 but are a more complete overall tech.

I understand that but then it comes down to how you define amazing water technology. To me HL2 does have amazing water technology, because it not only looks real but it animates real due to physics. The fact it's not interactive doesn't make the technology any less amazing IMO.

Anyway does anybody know if you can use the FN P90 in GR3?

fair enough, if that's what makes amazing water technology to you then no one can really argue it.

different strokes for different folks and all that ;)

haven't seen the fnp90 pictured or mentioned yet, but who knows. this thing is supposed to be set in 2012 right? so i imagine there will still be plenty of the older weapons such as p90 and m4 etc - doubt they'll be phased out for many years to come.

Yeah, even in 2145, the space marines use updated PN90s on Mars
