New Computer Specs

So Q6600 G0 stepping, 2x2GB 6400 and say an 8800GTX...can my OCZ PowerStream OCZ520ADJSLI EPS12V 520W Power Supply handle it? It currently handles the X1800XT-PE/4400+ x2 just fine...

If it can deliver enough on the 12V lines, it should work. That will be the critical mark, since 520 watts is more than enough for that combination, even for the non-G0 steppings. For comparison purposes (reposted from here):

Taken from X-bit Labs' 1000 Watt PSU review:
Intel-based system:

* Quad-core Core 2 Extreme QX6700 CPU (Kentsfield) overclocked to 3.5GHz
* Two Foxconn GeForce 8800GTX graphics cards in SLI mode
* ASUS Striker Extreme mainboard (LGA775, NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI)
* 2GB DDR2-800 SDRAM (Mushkin XP2-6400PRO, 4 x 512MB)
* Two Western Digital WD1500AHFD hard disk drives in a RAID0
* Various trifles like a DVD-ROM, fans, etc

Hi Natoma,

I have a 480W PSU. I use two HDD's(seagate), 1 SATA Dual-DVD, SB X-Fi Fatal1ty, Asus GTS 8800 GTS and run my Q6600 at 3Ghz as per above and have no power issues. It's hard to believe you'll have issues with a 520W PSU. ;)

My CPU runs at 1.38V(manually set) and memory at 2.35(as per here).

I'm surrently using 4x1Gb Team Elite DDR2 800 and although I loose some memory because I only use XP 32-bit, it shows 3200MB in XP. It's enough. And I plan to go Vista whether 32-bit or 64-bit i'll still decide so that 4Gb might still be useful. ;) More is never enough. :D

Very nice Natoma, you'll love the motherboard.

The amount you saved from buying from all those places was probably countered by the separate shipping from all those places :LOL:

Nah the price differentials were high enough to counter the shipping costs.

You are a very brave person, I mean just a look at Memory Labs enough to make me go "no way" with my money. :oops:

You got 4GB, good man. You won't regret it. :)

Dumb question, no soundcard? Mouse/keyboard? :|

BTW- LOVE the 5 120mm fans, great move!

The MB has decent onboard sound and Nate's got the mouse/kb per earlier post.

I now have to pick an nV GPU and find a waterblock for it (can't go back to noisy fans)...I was originally thinking 8800GTX, but I haven't PC-gamed in 2 YEARS! I'm now thinking something on the cheaper side since the PS3 and Wii will be enough for games and my preferred OS (Ubuntu) doesn't need much to run Beryl...any ideas?

As to that shop - MemoryLabs - never heard of them!

Ouch!
MemoryLabs gets a 4.8 reseller rating and no ratings in the last six months?

Onboard sound, and I have a keyboard and mouse.

Yea I got the 4 1200rpm fans for the case. They put out 20dBa. Very very silent. The last 120mm fan is the 1600rpm variant. I'll slap on that on the heatsink. It puts out 28dBa.

1200rpm puts out 42cfm I believe, while the 1600rpm version puts out 67cfm. And they were rated best buys by SilentPC. :)

Not too shabby.

1 fan venting out the top of the case, 3 in the front, 1 on the CPU, 1 preinstalled in the back of the case, and one in the PS. All 120mm, all quiet. :)

You sir are a kindred spirit on case cooling, that's close to my dream set-up. (I like side fans too. ;) )

Only if I need them. :)

Not sure if you've even inclined to Watercooling, but I believe, someone is making a radiator kit that attaches to those brackets, which is what I am hoping to do with my stacker 830 evo case.

BTW, there was a $40 rebate for the 830 & 832 case a couple of weeks ago. It still might be going on. Got mine for $180 shipped.

Nah I'm not into Watercooling. Too scared something will leak and fry my computer. :)

Besides, air cooling apparatus like the Thermalright I purchased cool just as well as watercooling I think, without the potential headache of a spill.

Ya that's what I got from Directron. It was $230 plus a $40 rebate for a grand total of $190. :)

Distilled water isn't electrically conductive so the threat is nowhere near what people make it out to be. The biggest problem with water cooling is suddenly you can hear rubber-mounted hard drives and PSU fans and they seem loud! :)
