I thought it was common knowledge that decaf wasn't caffeine free, same for black and green tea - hence herbal tea for those eliminating all caffeine.

Coffee is decafinated by making coffee with the beans, and then infusing the beans(soaking) with coffee-flavored water. It's impossible to remove al lteh caffine this way.
