My PSP impressions

Well I live in AZ,

We have a specialty game store that has imports etc and they wanted $500 U.S. for the PSP :devilish: I had to walk out laughing no matter how much i wanted I would not pay that much

Well see, thats about the same amount as they were asking in the british shop, and the funny thing is I half considered it...

So the UK always has and always will get outrageously high prices. Or at least outrageously higher than in most other countries.

No you wouldn't. Not if you just ordered a PSP the same as hey69 did. VAT is usually quite easily avoidable (my DS didn't get any tax on it) and even if its not tax in the rest of Europe is often higher then the U.K anyway.

if anybody wants one, i can get you guys one shipped straigt to your door for I think a fair price 8) (260 € shipped with ems with online tracking ) for a standart pack. ad 40€ for a valuepack.

regarding the screen of the psp, i must say it is VERY sensitiv to miniscule scratches. i wiped my screen a few times with the end of my tschirt but it leaves traces on the screen. you can't see them directly but if you hold it in a certain angle under light you can see them . that's a bit annoying

There are screen protector foils available in Japan:

Even view angle limiters are available:

... finally horny salariman can watch their naughty stuff on the train ;)

Yeah, had one of those angle limiters things for my mobile, my ex got it from Japan. Kinda neat but the screen is much less bright than it is without, even at a perfect frontal viewing angle. And i'd want my PSP to look as bright as it can ;)

hmm, that puts the psp screen's scratch sensitivity up there along with the cd's and dvd's - you can scratch those even by wiping them with pure cotton - just from the dust particles that were already there. FWIW, my sony-ericsson t630 experiences the same problem, even though one'd expect it was designed to be less scratchable (people keep phones in their pockets, etc), so if the psp is similar to that then it would _definitely_ need screen protectors big time.

Mmmm very odd. I had a Sony T610 for a year before my last mobile phone, and scratching it was an adventure, for some reason that plastic (which is the same they've used for PSP apparently) is just very resistant to scratches, i had it for a year, kept it in my pocket, sometimes with keys and change, gone to clubs with it, dropped it lots of times and it was pretty much perfect...

t630 has a bit different panels than t610 (i've had them both) - the plastic over the screen of the t630 resembles in optic qualities the lead glass used in CRTs - i guess it's there to make the phone's display produce better black. the plastic over the t610 screen did not look this way - it was a sturdy, thick plastic layer, hardly scratchable indeed, but it did not had the optic qualities of the new one. but with those phones screen scratching has never been a big issue anyway as you can always replace their panels altogether.
