MT Framework engine (2009 Edition)

To achieve 60 on DMC they had to use very crude tech, shader wise and lighting.Unless they remove all what i saw on the demo ,RE5 will be 30.

I had a good go on the 360 demo today and it's an astoundingly good-looking game. It's hard to believe that those cut-scenes are being rendered in real-time. Indeed, it's only because of the screen tear that I would've guessed that they are.

When the current gen can look this good, where do you go from here? 1080p? 60fps? Then what?

That demo was an old build.

So what? While the demo was an old build, you dont double your framerate from 30 to 60 overnight, nor do you in a couple months time.

Have you ever even heard of a demo that came out at 30fps and had a 100% increase in framerate when it hit retail?

I havent

How about changing the thread title? It's called 'MT Framework', not 'Frameworks engine'.

Is there a reason why Digital Foundry hasn't published some demo gameplay footage captured from the HDMI output of the Xbox 360? Or are you waiting to get your hands on the PS3 demo as well for a comparison? Or are you even waiting for the retail game?

My presumption was that everyone had downloaded the CD version of the demo!

I see.

Do you mean 'from here within 'this generation''? Or do you mean 'from here in the future (or 'next generation')'?

Because you don't really think the 'graphics' from Resident Evil 5 can't be topped anymore besides higher resolution and framerate in the future (or 'next generation'), do you? :???::eek::D

Yeah graphics can improve a lot. Seeing how PC games are far ahead visually and technically and yet there is tons of things to improve. And by a significant amount to. In the future they should implement more stuff like high-quality object motionblur. It can make a dramatic change to the experience and animations, amongst other effects. Not sure about TR's motionblur (xbox360 version) but say in Crysis, enabled versus disabled takes the animations/movemens to the uncanny valley. And greatly enhances gameplay experience for example.

Full-HD/ultra(?) HD resolution, 60fps, 16xAA etc couldn't replace this.

In terms of diminishing returns, I gather.

First, thank you for your reply. But what do you mean with that?

Ah, and thread title changed ;).

Yes, that's about what i meant. Not that Resident Evil 5 looks bad. But as far as what could be seen from it ingame wise, it's not that (especially not unsurpassable) good looking. So i was wondering about his statement.

If you look at the cutscenes in RE5 you can already see that it's higher quality than the in-game graphics so that right there tells you how the graphics could be improved.

Another thing about MT Framework is that I think it shows a big change in Japanese games development. Both in the sense that Capcom is one of the earlier developers I saw building an advanced multi-platform technology for the 7th generation consoles & PC, and that its producing some of the more impressive graphical effects I've seen this generation which I haven't found with many Japanese developed titles compared to western counterparts. After seeing the latest RE5 trailer, its really a sum of all the work they've put into the technology and supposedly running at 60fps there is some exciting potential for the future.
