I may have read your post wrong, this is the part I felt Denis was pushing the audience on oil, if they didn't put 2 and 2 together to think about what you wrote above. if the audience couldn't connect, I assume this last bit of this shot was to put that image in their head for something the current day audience could grasp.

    spoiler

hmm link doesn't seem to be working.
    edit okay working now.

I remember that scene. It didn't scream specifically oil to me, more just gross gloopy stuff that happened to be black.

There are numerous scenes in other movies / TV shows with people coming out of goop for various health-enhancing reasons (BSG, erm... 12 Monkeys?, LOTR, probably others) I just thought it was channelling that.

Spice does not look like oil.
Perhaps Harkonnen enjoys sewage baths, being evil, ugly and all that, but it never crossed my mind it might have been spice he was bathing in.

The first 45 minutes seems to be all about tension. It’s not until 55 minutes in that you get your first death by zombie. After that all hell kinda of breaks loose.

Ghostbusters: heart is in the right place but not quite perfect.
Desperately needed a training montage, the kids immediately knowing how everything works is Disney SpaceConflict sequels level writing.
I would rework the call to Dan Akroyd along the lines 'hey we found all this gear & its got this number on it, whats Ghostbusters?' Then he turns up (maybe he calls the others & whoever is closest turns up?), explains that grandpa was Egon, does a training montage then storms out because the kids suck & the mother is trying to make him buy the gear.

People complain about the all female remake but I liked it more than the original

He’s not bathing in spice. That’s just imagery. Spice serves in that universe the same purpose oil does here. Without it transportation for long distances does not exist (airplanes)

Just watched Robocop 2 (because it was on t.v) my god the stop go animation is awful. Ray Harryhausen did it better in 1963 in Jason and the Argonauts.
In fact go and watch that instead it's a much better film

I didn't think it was a spice bath, however, melange in the books does have life extending properties. All the aristocracy consume small amounts in food. It's only a small amount as its so expensive.

The spice's use for space travel is that it allows guild navigators to see a short way into the future. They stop spaceships flying into stuff. The spice doesn't power spaceflight directly. That's just from the Lynch version.

watched spiderman and yes it was a fun movie. but hampered by the CGI. It even looks fake on a movie theater. cant imagine how fake it'll look on 4K TV.

    btw turns out

the nathan drake spiderman (i forgot the actor name) acts errily close to the sony spiderman (not the amazing spiderman).

Robocop 2 is one of my favourite so-bad-its-good movies. The second sequel (Robocop 3) was just..

The behemoth that is Disney needs to constantly churn out movies to maintain its massive existence.

I'm planning to watch Eternals this weekend. I'm fully expecting it to be a load of crap, but, hey ho. I don't mind watching dismal comic book adaptations for some reason. Probably because I've never read comics so aren't going to be offended by the characters being misused!
