Movie Reviews 2.0

I'm also curious about Ant Man, although it's more about how long it's been since a movie with a miniaturized man :)

Wasn't overly impressed with Guardians myself. It wasn't terrible, but I felt it rather a lot too juvenile to truly tickle my fancy.

What I truly want is Thor 3. Iron Man, I don't know. The last one was lacklustre, so unless they manage to find the groove again it's gonna be forgettable I fear. No, I wanna know what happened to Odin, and see if Loki manages to dodge getting killed one more time. I like it when badguys don't get offed in the very same movie that spawned them. What would the comics world be without our Jokers and Lex Luthors and whatnot? Loki's such a fantastic character too, and so brilliantly portrayed, he deserves to be a trickster gumming up the works for our heroes every now and then! :)

but it is now widely accepted that the best of TV is much better than the best of film.
I think you're comparing mainstream american TV vs american mainstream films, & perhaps you're correct but mainstream are what? ~5% of all films released?
Obviously, if you're happier watching films that's fine for you but don't knock it until you've tried it!
Fair point, Im just saying I think its better to have exposure to many thing vs exposure to just one, i.e. 20 films vs 1 tv series

No need to cry!!
Better out than in, at least thats what my partner saiz (hmm doesnt sound good)

Saw the Avengers and yes, it was definitely not as well put together as the first. Bit messy, even. But spectacular of course and both Ultron and the Vision were brilliant characters, if a little under developed for obvious time constraint reasons.

Fast & Furious 7: oh good lord what a silly movie (but in a good way). So Vin Diesel has said that F8 is likely to happen. I'm wondering what they'll jump cars out of this time - the International Space Station??

I've watched the newer movies recently, FF5 and 6, and they were actually good fun. It's much less about the streetracing subculture, they're more like action-packed heist movies with cars. Something like The Italian Job, only a lot bigger and louder and with more characters. Would trade them any day for a Transformers movie (which I'd rather ignore, if it wasn't for them pushing the CGI envelope). So it's no wonder they're this successful.

I can't believe they are still going with that series. I'd had enough by the time I watched F&F2.
Its making money. This particular one is making tons of it. Its already surpassed Frozen in the box office takings and is currently standing at fifth in the all time box office gross just a few weeks after release.

I was surprised that I enjoyed Fast Five, but I didn't like the one after it so much. The original movie was awful, and this is also awful in many ways, but far more entertaining.

I also think Fast Five was pretty entertaining movie, sixth was pretty bad. I'll go see this latest too, if for not any other reason that I have 3 free movie tickets that I have use before May 18th...

I rented Horrible Bosses 2 on Saturday and it was terrible imo. The new Kirk actor was funniest, but the main guys not so much. 2/5 at best.
