Pasting my post from the Sony event thread because the same feeling applies for the MS event. Just replace Sony stuff with MS stuff in the text.

I would have liked to have seen more talk about PSN showing chat, matchmaking etc. Do they have group chat, or groups (parties)? The game-centric style of these events bothers me, especially when they're mostly showing multiplatform stuff. They're basically showing me a long advertisement for a product I'd be able to play on any gaming platform, which is information I can get from gametrailers.

... Still, I've got to search for the UI vid now, because I want to see it. It should have been in the conference. A good example is friends and game invites. How do I invite friends to play games with me? Is it easier than before? What does matchmaking look like? These are all things I want to know that go a long way to making the product seem like a good investment. MS and Sony both totally dropped the ball on that. Compare to the conference Apple did for iOS 7, and these game conferences look silly

FWIW I don't believe Sony is showing any live shell UX at the show. The show version of the OS boots straight into the game.

The way the console works is very important to me. I don't like devices with clunky frustrating interfaces. I want to know what features it has. The ecosystem is important. People flock to good ecosystems. That's why Apple stresses those things in their conferences.

The comment about the 1080p resolution was rather vague in the news XpiderMX posted, although I hope they can pull it off.

News; Amazon US, all the Xbox One pre-order stock sold out! It seems like the console is going to sell like hot cakes there.

Looks like XB1 & Windows 8 & cross-platform play via Smartglass. So that means phone, tablet & Windows 8.

They should throw in a game (Kinect sports rivals on disc and maybe dowbloadable game) and rename it the "Xbox one deluxe bundle" or something. Between that and Kinect they'd at least have pricing parity.

I heard there was a Day One edition of the console featuring a free year of Xbox Live and was so happy about it, but now I realise that I was wrong.

The price is a delicate matter. The console should be sent back to the drawing board, imho.
