I've t osay that I like what MSFT did with the cloud, the irony is that it seems to be a great improvement for... single player games.
Lot of games should be improved by those "learning softwares", fighting games should be significantly improved too. It seems that MSFT does this in a way that doesn't make network characteristics (mostly latencies induced) an issue.

I wonder if MSFT will "share" the tech. I mean MSFT obviously is well advanced in the filed of learning machines, they used that tech to put Kintect software together but I don't expect your average developer or studio, actually even the biggest/best devs/studio, to have knowledge and time to come with a solution of their own in that field.

MSFT has a pretty strong showing, especially when you consider that they only showcased core games and none of the casual/party games powered by Kinect.

I still want to know if the system can run metro apps.

I'm surprised by the price though 499$ is high but will early adopters care? I'm not sure. I guess the subscription model can wait till production hits its pace and supplies is no longer constrained.
The Xbox One has a lot of functionality, I guess it takes more than 2 showing to present the product in its "entirety".

For the tech side, I think that the system should keep up with the PS4, though I expect significant differences between Xbox1 and PS4 games (for multi platform games) more than the minor differences one could find between the 360 and ps3.
The use of the cloud could make a difference and it is an area Sony may have to play catch-up if it offers significant improvements to SP games.

For single player games it's not really necessary, particularly as that's data you'd want to gather in a central location, for 'learning' software. In fact, several fighting games do stuff like that already, and even come with fighters on the game disc that are AI versions of real players created in a similar way.

What I think Microsoft's strongest point for the Cloud is all aspects of single player that are asynchronous. A world that you play in that keeps evolving and moving along, learning or whatever, that you can set to work for you while you are at work, etc., without having to leave your console on.

I definitely also think that actually running the core single player could be assisted by the cloud, but my biggest reservations there remain whether that is really cost-effective. I still have strong doubts about that one. Here too there are some publisher and platform advantages - you don't need DRM, game just won't be complete without the internet connection ;) - but that may also cause issues with user acceptance (at least in the short term). We'll see. Just recently I think Microsoft opened up a free developer test account option for working with Azure, and I look forward to testing that for a bit.

Agreed, pretty decent, if a little too much of the same (imho).

Still waiting to see more of that part too, and what limitations/perks doing so on the Xbox will have. Is Kinect good enough to take over touch? Can we use Xbox controllers and Live features in our Xbox apps? Those are the big questions, but as a .NET programmer (business primarily), hugely interesting.

Or even its first year to make the most out of all of them. ;) The more functions you have, and the more complicated they are, the easier it is to mess it up, or not follow through.

It will be interesting to see how things progress. Exciting times ahead!

Forgot to mention this while watching, but I liked how Phil Spencer kept changing his shirt to advertise something new every time he came on stage.

Details of the new cloud based matchmaking system. Seems like they're trying to deal with fragmentation of player-base caused by DLC a little bit. A good read. There was a video of this somewhere?

I like that the dregs of society get stuck into matchmaking with eachother. Hopefully I won't have to hear another twelve-year-old(or forty-year-old) yell the "N" word at me.
