Microsoft kicks butt to clean up domains

I'm not so sure that would be a good thing.

IMO too many people have lost legitimate domain names because some company owns the trademark.

Bullshit to them, I say....

In this case, yes, the scammers are trying to make money from the domains, but... meh, the real sites are still up and work fine.

I've been working on writing a CMS (Content Management System) in ASP .NET and it got to the point were we needed to demo it to prospective clients. So I asked one of our team to register a domain for it so we could put it on the intra-web were it could be viewed externally. They asked me what I wanted for the domain name, so I just said, "Oh, register anything, I don't mind. It's a windows based CMS system, so think of something appropriate...."

Well, I was quite surprised to find that a few hours later they had registered the domain windowscms.co.uk, mostly because I would have assumed Microsoft would have already snapped it up (as they make their own CMS). Our network manager nearly had a fit when he found out as he was sure Microsoft would try and sue us...

The domain is still registered to us, but we decided not to actually put anything up there. So far no lawyers. Maybe M$ will buy it off us for lots of money? ;)

Ah ha!

Now we've caught you!

You registered the domain with the intent to extort money.

And now back to my midget clown goat porn I was watching.

I'm normally against big businesses being bullies about web names, but this time seems like it's a pretty legitimate bitch for Microsoft and a fair case.

The people registering those domains seem guilty and I hope they get nailed for it.

It is things like this that ruin the web experience for lots of users.
