Microsoft gets exclusive Marvel MMO contract

I guess MS will do many things to make on line gamming successfull, but still, I wonder if consoles are the right platform for MMOs, but who knows, I might work in a few years...

LOL... funny if Sony got exclusives on the DC MMO. Then it would be Marvel vs DC, Sony vs MS, ATI vs Nvidia, all in one. A genuine battle!

Sony announced they're working on a DC MMORPG weeks ago. Coming to PC, PS3 and possibly PSP in 2007.

Gah .... What to play ... what to play . Eh i like dc better than marvel. Will pick up the dc game if its any good on the pc

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! So now not only i have to decide which console to get, but also which universe i'll want to play with......... I mean Marvel vs DC is just cruel. Like asking me to choose between pizza and pasta!

I prefer MArvel. I love Batman, but come on, we are talking about X-Men, Spiderman, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Wolverine, Fantastic 4.

Anyway, Ms vs Sony keeps getting more interesting as time passes.

A marvel MMO? depends on how they develop it would be kool, and like therealskywolf I prefer marvel, the only DC character I like is Batman, my favorite comic book character is the Hulk, DC comics are kool, but they can't hold there own to X-men or spidey.

So where does SuperMan fit in? He is DC right? (Been a LOT of years since I read a comic!)

Not that I care... an almost invinsible super hero does not make for very good movies or games in most cases. But Batman/SuperMan are decent franchises in name... although both have been some of the WORSE games *ever*

Like others Spidy, X-men, and the Hulk are most interesting. Why? They are all "human" and even have flaws. And Fantastic 4, with the new movie, seems to propel them to the front line as well.

But as usual, these types of games suck o_O

Hollywood is finally making decent comic book movies... hopefully this can translate into decent games... someday!

come on a a comic book MMO, some poeple have to much time on their hands.

One thing about Comic book games is that they are impossible to balance, I mean if they foillow the rules set in the comic book series and if they don't then it's doesn't follow the story, lose lose situation in my book.

All comic books so far have sucked hard cause the developers only focused on the quick bang, on the cheap action elements of the comics.

The idea behind the new games is to use the VERY complex universes, with hundreds of different heroes, living in a society which is very different from ours, sometimes spanning many different planets and universes.

That in itself is 100000000000 times more appealing than a 20 minute button smasher with no end gratification whatsoever.

I have to wonder what's so great about having a DC or Marvel license for a game like this. It's not like they're going to let you play as Batman or Spider-Man; I suspect it'll boil down to a City of Heroes-type game only you fight licensed bad guys and occasionally see one of the famous superheroes running around as an NPC or something.

X-Men is the only comic license I can see really making sense, as the whole idea is that you've got a world full of mutants popping up with a large scale war scenario between mutants and humans.

No wonder Marvel sued City of Heroes...

Anyhow, I'd like to see an MMORPG for once with real time combat and maybe some more skill based gameplay. Planetside was a start, except it played more like a crap BF1942.

But yeah, I'd imagine they won't let you play as the major heroes, which kind of makes it stupid.

Yeah but would 50 Supermans really look good in a MMORPG? I do agree with your real-time combat statement though.

As long as you can make characters similar it shouldn't matter .

I.e if you like the hulk . Just make a character that has super strength and isn't injured by most attacks

City of Heroes already does that and they didn't have to pay for a license.
