Little secret: I HATE OFF-ROADING!!!

It was supposed to be done yesterday but he had a relative get in an auto accident and is now a quadriplegic so they brought them food. Said it would be ready today since he just had some 'button up' things to get done on it. He used the example of taking the rotors off last week and having them turned to get the rust off that developed from sitting there 2 years. (Almost 2 year, it'll be 2 years jan 3rd)

Anyone think we'll get it back today?

From my "sunkjeep.txt":

12/18 Texted Jay around 4 to see what's up

12/18 5:52p Jay had the bleeding machine running but the clutch has no fluid in the line, he's going to rebuild the master cylinder tomorrow since that's the most likely problem. (Brake and clutch use master cylinder)

Jay's wife's cousin who was paralyzed in the accident passed away yesterday so he spent the day with their family.

12/21 texted Jay

12/24 texteddd Jay

12//25 Jay ttexted, will call tomoirrow

12/26 3:48p Jay called Got wrong rebuild kit ordered one for an '18 instead. Explained to him ours was a '16 and he said, "Oh, well that explains a lot!"

New rebuild kit ordered off the number on the master cylinder so it should fit. Supposed to be here tomorrow but he said that parts were running a bit late lately due to the holidays borkimg up deliveries

The shock in his voice when I told him it was a '16 and not an '18 scared me, he really hadn't known?!?

One bit of good news, Stellantis didn't buy Jeep until 2021. Our newest Jeep the Renegade is 2020 so technically we never bought a Stellantis product. What scares me is they got worse since then?

I'm still in awe how it can take so bloody long to "fix" your car.

I had an oil leak a while ago. Email the dealer, get calls and emails within 15 minutes, sales guy comes over to my house same day (who knows why but I appreciate the gesture), had to car towed to them, dealer hooks me up with a loaner, they order parts and fix the thing while keeping my updated. Okay I didn't turn my car into a Toyboata but still. Get the feeling by now your whole car has been rebuilt three times except it still doesn't work hehe.

I think one person could've mined the minerals, refined them into the sanitized raw metals and plastics, forged and molded them into parts, and fully assembled those parts into a working car at this point.

The jeep is supposed to be done today. There was a broken oil filter housing temperature plug that made that not gonna happen so I told the guy I'd find a new plug and bring it over.

He found a plug that'll be available in an hour and a half.

Got mad yesterday and told him we're bringing the jeep home if it's working or not this weekend then today my wife told me it's coming home today so I told Jay and it's now officially "a thing"
If it's not done today, (or tomorrow depending on my wife's mood and Jay's progress), or we tow it home and get lawyers involved and as I told Jay I REALLY don't want it to end up like that.

UUUUGHH! AAAARRGH!
I feel like a go-between because I am and I bloody hate it.

Called Jay at 4:09. He ran a hose through exhaust system, catalytic converter and muffler finally clearish, and he plans to weld together manifolds tomorrow after church and then it'll be ready. He'll call tomorrow afternoon.
My sunkjeep.txt entry for the day. A few days ago he replaced part of the front wiring loom and put the engine back together. Got it running with no leaks but temps and pressure were building up. Checked the exhaust manifolds and they had dried mud in them like being filled with concrete. He tried soaking them for a few days then cut them off at the collector to get to the stubborn bits, he sent a picture of that:

The adventure continues. <incredibly heavy sigh>

Jay called yesterday wanting to set a hard pickup date. He said Sunday is good either before or after church. I asked when church was since I ain't really went for about 50 years now and he said 10-1 so we agreed on 3pm Sunday.

My wife came home and I told her the happy news and she got mad at me so I called Jay back and made it to before church so she can have it to drive for the day. So now we're going to get the Jeep at 8:30am CT on Sunday morning. Jay also talked money, wanted to know if $1,100 would be ok.

We'll see what happens. Lots has been going on but sometimes I just don't want to post it and get laughed at. For a fun side note it looks like Jay found a new job....managing the auto repair place here in Winfield who said they could repair the Jeep but failed spectacularly and charged us for basically nothing. Sort of happy, either it'll work out great and Jay will whip the shop into shape and I'll have a devil-I-know mechanic a mile away or if it fails they sort of deserve each other.

Life has weird rhythms at times. :/

Yeah, uhm...so the jeep ain't here.:(

His son called late last night to tell me his dad was in the hospital and there was a ticking when he pulled it out. Pulled the rocker covers a discovered a busted cam cover bolt thing and it's leaking from the oil pan because his dad used sealant since he didn't have a proper seal and wanted to get it done.

He'll call Monday and let me know what's up, why do I keep getting my hopes up?

Can you promise us to never ever:

A. Buy another Stellantis product again.
B. Never permit this shop, or any singular member of their staff, or their families (whether by blood relation or marriage) to ever touch anything you own, or anything belonging to anyone you have ever loved or cared about

Please?

Yes but technically we never have bought a Stellantis product. The wrangler is a 2016 and the renegade is a 2020 so they're both before Stellantis bought out Jeep.

I wish I could but I'm pretty sure his son is currently working on it If you mean after we get it back to never go back to him I can promise that I'll never hire him privately for anything again.

If he becomes manager of the MTI shop in Winfield we'll see what the what is as things happen but I hate the shop and have sworn never to go again so it's probably safe that I won't be going there.

No word since Saturday, no idea when word will come. Gods I am starting to loathe this and it's stressing me out way too much, it really is the hope that kills you. :(

Found some pictures from years ago of his "shop". Jay is the larger fellow in the pict and the guy in the brown jacket is my bestest friend Groo who trailered or jeep back from the Badlands and over to Jay's.

Our jeep on the trailer. If you walk to the garage and turn and look back towards the camera and to the right, it's his front yard:

And of course some spare parts out back:

Trying to find the pictures we took last time of the jeep actually being worked on in the garage...

EDITED BITS: Found it!
