Lindburgh Is Not Power VR According To Famitsu!

What makes everyone so sure this is accurate? Also, with what SEGA is doing here is getting a low cost solution to an arcade system that could actually make a profit. And if and when this comes out there is no stopping them from updating it for future purposes. It is highly possible they can use a dual core solution with a 7800 series GPU in SLI also for another arcade board. Anything is possible.

That's dated March.Things change.
If SEGA sides with Nvidia,Shenmue will most probably be headed towards...
An Intel + Nvidia combi is still the best and this clearly shows that Sega wants to built upon what they've been familiar with all these time.

Intel CPU and NV GPU was the rumour that floats when they revealed HoTD4 and Lindbergh. Most assume its Xbox base. And the rumour become 360 which is reasonable because well Xbox was just too old.

But it isn't a suprising choice, since Sega teams seems to praise Chihiro quite abit, they basically dump Noami 2 for it.

Anyway we will know if this is true or not later today.

True. I only know what I've been told by friends at the former employer, and that is not much!

I have hear now that Lindbergh has more then one Nvidia GPU,if Sega need more
they can parallel it,i don't think that 1:1 conversion to homemarket is possible, because
look at nextgen console all people says that the most games run only with 30Frames/s.OK
PS3 is powerful when Cell+RSX come togehter work, but with only 128bit bus in HDTV,i think it is small.

The Stinger Report revealed Lindbergh's hardware a few weeks ago for the first time factually, referring to the nVidia and Intel lineage. The schedules of the high-end PowerVR arcade hardware and Lindbergh's introduction weren't in synch completely, but no other hardware choice had been expected.

Sega Sammy's PowerVR development has been either cancelled or moved into a new production stage, for it's not been listed anymore in ImgTec's recent financial reports.

The Stinger report scared me for abit, I thought they were going to use an overclocked part of Xbox for Lindbergh.

But 3GHz P4 and G70? should be good. Wonder if it will have the Ultra variant of G70 with all the pipes intact and higher clock speed.

It's boosting handheld technology beyond the graphics functionality of even nVidia's highest-end desktop/set-top part, the RSX in PS3.

But why isn't it being used in 'desktop' parts if it's that much better? Or does it have a ceiling in performnace, in essence more powerful in the low end but not as scalable to perform in the upper end?

Features/functions or performance? NVidia has produced a high-functionality card before that was a dog in performance. I said it at GAF, but IT doesn't compete in the PC GPU market for a reason. ATI and NVidia are ahead in the game. PEACE.

If one of the resident members who read Japanese fluently, could translate the info, it would be very appreciated.

Hong.

it's not a home videogame console. it's an arcade board for SEGA for use in coin-op arcade games such as Virtua Fighter 5 and a new AfterBurner, among others.

this new arcade board is heavily based on near-current PC technology.

Headline: Sega's new Lindbergh powered by Dell XPS

Is there any hope that SystemSP is in fact the new(er) high-end Series 5-based board?

Where are the PVR guys? Simon? David? Is Series 5 delayed/cancelled?

Suggested code-names for Series 6:

Infinity (that's how long you'll wait for it)

Hokum (theoretical performance)

M3 (home console version)

(You need Quicktime 6.5.2 to view it for those who don't know)

Oh, lol, it is like I have Lindburgh right at my fingertips...that is exact spec of my pc..except i got 1GB more memory...now I can finally get to see my system's true potential:)
While it really is capable machine, kinda disappointed that it didn't have PowerVR 5...

Yeah, its probably very close to a PC or a Mac now that they use Intel too :)

The thing we don't know is which NV GPU that is, my hunch is G70, maybe Ultra variant.
