KILLZONE Shadow Fall [PS4]

yes, thats sad but true. More so, since its coming from GG. Aliasing was a non issue in KZ2, but I guess we have to make do with it now. The IQ is bad, hence I only wrote " Next gen lighting " :p and not visuals ! Just look at that daytime lighting on guns, objects, etc. Beautiful !

They seem to be playing it safe with everything on KZSF. The MP count is still 24. But I love the open options for games. It can mean the MP will have a loong loong life and will keep evolving. Free MP DLC will only boost it more.

The way PS+ functions, I am sure this will just go free to play later.

Uh guys, Aliasing? You sure?

I wouldn't exactly call this "aliased".

I don't think I have to point it out. The gun of the soldier on the left. Daytime shots are pretty clean.

BTW, GG seems to have said it at two places now that MP is going for 60 fps !

Only its actually 30fps... Unless things changed and I'm unaware of it.

60fps was confirmed for MP on Twitter, I think.

Its like this for all the day and night shots. Maybe they don't have AA running for the night map yet. I don't know :-/

Probably just the nature of their algorithm. There are definitely a number of edges elsewhere in the night shot with edge filtering.

The first-person shooter sees with his more colorful colors and rendering tricks not only great, but also runs very smooth and can be controlled buttery soft. The developers of guerilla render the game in Full HD and aim for a frame rate of 60 fps. "We could interpret it to 30 fps and still be able to apply more makeup, but we had the game feel important", said the Dutchman. Killzone should be no pure graphics demo of the PS4, but keep long term player in line. Compared to Killzone 3, the solo campaign will be even larger. It runs no longer linear but gives the player the choice to accept various missions in more open levels. For multiplayer games are ten cards for up to 24 players with it. More free maps to follow. The rules can be changed at will. Who does not have such quick reflexes can play against bots. Online you will, as was already seen at the press conference in a few seconds can go into the current game of a friend.

Maybe it's a google mistranslation, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Another article.

EDIT: Ah, couldn't get any more official than this.

That's some great new then! GG might just improve on that interation of their engine for a fully 60fps sp campaign for their next game then! Thanks for all the info guys.

What the hell? 60fps at 1080p with those visuals?! God Like!

It makes sense. I mean, the game is only really doing 24 players total and there isn't "Battlefield" like destructibility or vehicular combat.

Given all of these factors, 60fps makes alot of sense to me. Plus it's a GG exclusive, so that also helps.

Now BF4 is, obviously, a totally different beast altogether by comparison.

The BF4 team may have ported the existing PC version over to PS4. I wonder how much they could reuse. Other than memory management, system setup (e.g., audio, HDD + newer Blu-ray, controller), and switching to low level graphics APIs, it seem that much of the PC-centric software architecture and code should remain intact.

The KZSF team ported the entire PS3 engine over. They will need to map the various SPU subsystems to the GPGPU.

Both can probably get a "raw" system up relatively quickly, but the remaining optimization approach should be rather different.

Likely yes, but they probably didn't devote near the amount of resources to the next gen consoles as the prior gen or PC respectively.

This game hasn't impressed too much graphically but weirdly the Gamescom MP trailer is the best it's looked yet (weird because it's MP where the visuals are normally lesser).

I actually read a Gaffer say "60 FPS means they're dumbing down the weighty feel to appeal to the masses". Yes, 60 FPS is a bad thing now...

Anyways I've been advocating COD go 60 FPS MP 30 FPS SP for a long time, so it's interesting this game will actually do it. I wonder if lackluster prior sales had effect on their thinking (which seemingly used to be graphics over all)
