Just when Consoles graphics were amazing.....

onetimeposter is hasanahmad it appears. He/she will no longer present a problem in the console forum.

You know what the funniest thing is. People are bringing up budget, time and projects (in another thread) and that will ALWAYS be a factor...so theres NO way you can objectivley look at images or videos...simply because the budget, time and projects factor. What Kojima or Cliffy have done are not definitive of the technology their using. So theirs no point to bring up Xenos or RSX in this post...unless the post is called "lets talk about Xenos or RSX" everything else would be off topic. Also...which has been stated time and time again...Art direction is a major factor. Even if the game is a technological feat...if it look like ass..no one will like it. Varying tastes muddles it up a little more.

Umm.. the Crytek engine is already in development for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, to take advantage of their unique strengths. You can bet your bottom dollar that this demo is possible on both systems.

can someone move this to 3d Software instead of here. i posted in wrong area
I don't think the moderator of that forum wants this thread there any more than you want it here. I don't even understand the point of it, what exactly is it you want to say with it?

While DX10 adds extended possibilities over DX9, rest assured that the fixed hardware nature of consoles will enable developers to fake most anything you can do with DX10 anyway, saying "this can't be done on consoles!" seems more than a bit premature to me.

There is clearly no argument here. They have said that DX9, SM2.0 is their baseline with this engine. They may support DX10, but it doesn't require DX10.

I actually would love to see something like this in the next Jak & Daxter game from Naughty Dog. The previous parts (namely Jak 3) already had the night and day cycle (though very primitive in comparasment of course) and some very nice destructable environments (some platforms broke fairly realistic into l ittle pieces as you jumped onto them). The leaves etc weren't done at all I think, but if they could add something like in MGS3, that would already look quite comparable...

All in all, I pretty much expect the next game from Naughty Dog to be around this kind of level on many accounts.

It's amusing to note, that absolutely none of these things requires DX10 to implement... ;)

I thought XBox 360 was dx10 compliant... and then some...
No, it's more like DX9 and then some.

Some of DX10 is specific to the PC (e.g. virtual memory for GPUs) and the API for Xenos in XB360 is "cut-back to the metal" meaning that developers can get hardcore with it in a way that's not possible on PC.

Jawed

omg can someone ban this guy, everysingle time he start a thread, he is alway anti sony and on this occassion anti microsoft as well, i suspect he is a pc develeper.

Does look very pretty indeed. Can't find anything on the Crytek website about it though.

Incidentally, what will DX10 offer over DX9/OpenGL 2.0? Anything actually visible or is it all developer friendliness?

That's what i was wondering... I'd bet it's "faster rendering for DX10 boards, with some slight improvements in IQ", much like the SM1-2-3-clap-your-hands mess we've had for quite a while.

As a long-time lurker I decided I have to finally register to say please get rid of this 'onetimeposter' and those like him. The B3D boards used to be a haven of information and competent discussion, not childish, uninformed, ignorant, pointless, and biased threads such as this. This is something I would expect from GA Forums, or even TXB, not B3D. I come here much less than I used to due to people like him, and I really want that to change. I want the old B3D back.

/back into lurking-mode

Amen to that.

Based on what?

Been through this already. Based on nothing. The guy is a troll and has been banned. Twice.

Now we can either talk about the Crytech engine and keep the thread alive or keep pestering a guy who's no longer here, and get the thread locked.

I know what i'd do.

thats what i was saying. when we factor in directx10 hardware, it will look miles ahead of anything we just saw in the video. if Software can do this, i thought, how good with dx10 hardware make it look

You should remain silent.

I just got done telling you that Software layering has ZERO graphical impact, other than to REDUCE performance.

And you think that's a good thing? Can you give me one reason why you would want your game to run slower?

Why is a 25-50% loss in performance a good thing to you? I seriously don't understand your logic.
