That's quite interesting... All this talk about Chess made me curious about the game... When was it created? By who? I'd love to know curious facts about this game, it looks like there is a lot more behind it than it looks at first sight... I used to play a lot, then got a life and stopped, but i love it!

I believe it evolved out of a game from India, went via the Middle East and some final tweaks were made in Europe..... but don't quote me on that :)

I always wondered who the genius was who 'tweaked' the game. I wonder if it was dumb luck that turned chess into such a powerful game intellectually.

I forgot where I read it but, Shaturanga could have been invented some 4000-5000 years ago.

All I know was the Shaturanga was a game for gambling originally. This game was play with a die. Than Hindu banned gambling so they dispensed the die and make arrangement to the rules and it became Shatranj.

This is the earliest tweak that I know. The game become the start of a powerful intellectual game at that point basically. If I am not wrong the earliest recorded chess problem is of that game, dated to around AD600. It was about some Prince who bet his wife on that game.

Anyway, if Black and White becomes a problem, you all can adopt Shogi, the pieces are colorless in Shogi

If people were not so highly strung about race we'd all get along a lot better, i know im a limey pr**k, makes me laugh :)

NOW! Germans! man what a bunc....ill shut up shall I :)
