Is 599€ set in stone?

It's 600 Euros here in Romania (all taxes included) from the official/exclusive dealer. You can preorder, but I dont think there is too much demand. They will probably sell a couple of hundreds come 23 March.

For refference, 360 is not officially available - if you phone at MS HQ here in Bucharest, they will tell you "Xbox it's not a product for your country" - whatever that means... There are offers for 360 at 400-450 Eur from grey importers and private persons, however, since they offer limited warranty, I dont think they sell too much.

The Wii - that's another story. It is available officially from a Nintendo "exclusive" distributor - at almost 400Eur!!! There are other importers though, that sell the Wii at lower price - around 325 Eur, but still it's a huge price to ask (about 500 USD, twice what it is in the States). I doubt they have sold more that ten until now.

But Romania is a PC gamers market (of course, due to piracy) - so it doesnt matter that much. I think there were about 100.000 PS2 sold to date, which is zero for a country with 22 mil people. Xbox 1 and GC were pretty much inexistent, as its also the case with NDS or the 360.

Here in Finland the PS3 (60GB) will be 649 -> 699 Euros, depending on the store (and no bundled movies/games). Some will probably sell it for even a higher price. As a comparison, the Xbox360 Premium is 369 Euros, and the Wii is 269 Euros.

Cheers,

Nick
