Interesting Next-gen EA POLL on their EAgames.com Website!

Is this supposed to be something "extraordinary"?
PS3 is poised to be the best selling next gen console.. but the gap between Sony and MS will be smaller.. meaning that next NEXT gen, should be a more "open game"...

It'll be interesting to see if peoples opinion on XB360 changes when it's released in the UK and then people realise that they'll have to wait a full year to see if the PS3 is any better......my betting is that the majority, like myself, aren't that patient.

Besides the poll not being very accurate at all (limited to online EA visitors, ignores multiple console purchases, etc...)

If we were to assume (yeah yeah) these numbers were "accurate" of anything meaningful (which they are not), if we extrapolated current console sales this gen (about 120M) and applied these percentages we would see:

PS3: 68.4M (57%)
Xbox 360: 38.4M (32%)
Revolution: 12M (10%)

Not that I see it ending that way (market will grow, ignores multiple console purchases, the public has not played any finished this gen games, totally skewed audiance for the poll, my guess is the market will grow a good 10-20% this gen, etc...) but I get the feeling MS would be happy almost doubling their install base, and I know Sony would not be happy with ~70M units sold.

The only meaningful thing I see in the poll is that EA wants to get some rough feedback from their customers on what consoles they plan to buy.

Hmmm..

Despite the fact that we pretty much know nothing about Revolution, 10% voted for it. I guess those are the people who are sold on the case design and BC, as well as die-hard Nintendo fans who'll buy it no matter what it turns out to be. The number's probably going to go up as people learn more, unless of course it completely sucks.

Please lets not talk about next next gen o_O This should be a no no. *shakes head*
