Intel Conroe - 32bit only?

HT did hurt performance a little bit if someone, such as a gamer, wanted as much dedication to a single program as possible.

Btw, I heard this many times when I decided to go for a P4 with HT but in all my testing I never once encountered a situation where HT reduced performance. YMMV of course.

Heh Heh heh.

"Hardware Roundup Avert your gaze, AMD fanboi"
nice tagline on there.. lol.

AMD is going to drop their prices like crazy, and for gamers this means more money to spend on the graphics card. The GPU is what really matters if you want game performance.

For the Folders though, Conroe is probably going to just rock with all that cache, low power use, and just overall efficiency. Hell it's simply superior in every way to K8, other than cost.

Apparently the lowest end Conroe (E4200) is 32 bit only:

http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/9...onroe_core_2_x6800_e6700_and_e6600/index.html

"At launch, Intel will have a full range of Core 2 Duo processors available from 1.6GHz all the way up to 2.93GHz. The E4200, E6300 and E6400 only have 2MB L2 cache and the E4200 is set to be the low-end part with just an 800MHz FSB and does not include Intel SpeedStep technology, EM64T or Execute Disable Bit while all the others do. Hyper Threading technology stated to be disabled for all processors at the moment but we could see Intel releasing a new Core 2 Extreme processor with HT enabled at clock speeds over 3GHz."
