Hugh Xenosaga2 screenshots update

www.gamefaqs.com might have the answer you need. I wish XenoSaga Episode 2 would be released over here already. I got a clear save from Episode 1 waiting for it. It's begging to be used. Literally. ;)

I can't remember who that is. Damn, I need to play through XenoGears and Saga Episode 1 again. Or are you refiring to Huga or however Citan's real name from XenoGears is spelled?

Hyuga.

Official site updated at http://www.namco-ch.net/xenosaga2/index.html

Officially confirmed details(Japan):

Release 24th June 2004.
2 DVD-ROMs.
Dolby Digital 5.1 support(probably only for movies and *maybe* in-game cutscenes).
Rating marked at CERO-12, which is incidentally lower than ZoE2[CERO-18] and SH2[CERO-15]. No, I can't figure it out either.

And if you explore around enough, there's a section that explains why Shion no longer wears specs.

New updates from various sources:

1) The Elsa was damaged at the end of the previous episode. It has since gone through an upgrade, and the interiors will be quite different from when we last explored it.

2) Depending on circumstances, exploration of certain locations/dungeons are carried out in the mechs. Should be interesting to see how this works out.

What Xenogears lacks in CG cutscenes, it makes up for in spades with endless slow dialogue and really, really boring areas.

While I agree that some dialogue is a bit dull I think it has a much more interesting story than the run-o-the-mill fantasy CRPG out there. (Though it surely has its weakpoints too when things tend to take too many twists and turns and just become silly.)

I *loved* Xenogears's plot.

By boring areas I was referring to the 'gameplay' between dialogue segments.

By the halfway mark, I was wishing the game could've just been a novel instead...

The second disk sort of was, I seem to remember a few paragraphs appearing on screen to string the events together, rather than actually having cinema scenes or anything. By the time you actually saw the game world again, it was winter! The story on the 2nd disk kind of sucked too.

Got Xenosaga Freaks today.

Freaks is actually a 4 in one package, there are 2 games, an encyclopedia of Xenosaga and Xenosage EP.II trial version.

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*still hopes for a PAL release of this one at least, so we can get the whole thing at last....*

Abandon all hope! :devilish:

(j/k)

Since Namco hinted that the "Tales of" series might come to ye old europe, where gamers hates excellent RPGs and where they like crappy unoptimized 50Hz ports (yes, i'm being cynical here :D ); then maybe Xenosaga might take a trip to europe.

Btw, i remember a french fansite who wrote to one of the producer of the game (a woman, i forgot her name), and she said that there were translators working on the game at a moment.(this news is from last summer, so...)

Whatever happen if they decide to release it in europe, i hope it will ship with a 60/50HZ selector or at least, if it ships it will be 50Hz optimized, because the moonwalking dwarves in 16/9 cinematic view of FFX* was kind of ...disturbing.

(*for the NTSC users: Squaresoft released an unoptimized 50Hz version of FFX, therefore pal gamers had to play the game with ENORMOUS black bands, the classical slowmotion due to Ntsc>Pal (60/30 frames/sec vs. 50/25 frames/sec), for FFX2 they did little extra job, they hacked the in-game models, so they will be "taller" and therefore the "deformation" due to the black bands will be "nullified"... )
