Hugh Xenosaga2 screenshots update

Such a shame the Xenosaga series didn't make it to Europe. Such a bloody shame. If they release this one but not the first i'll put a bomb under Namco's and Sony's HQ.

Luckely we get .hack, Arc, Star Ocean 3 and others.

Yeah, but when...?

[rant]

Also, to keep the thread off-topic for a while:

The PAL version of the new model of PS2 - the one with integrated infrared, DVDRW compatibility and Pro-scan DVD playback- can ONLY playback DVDs in Pro-scan when the DVDs are NTSC.
If the DVD is PAL, then pro-scan is disabled.
How is that for a european-gamers-take-that! blow??

That means that if one (say...errrmmm.... ME!) wanted to play DVDs in pro-scan, he would have to import them. And of course PS2 by itself is not multi-region, therefore, unless i use my DVD RegionX boot-up disc, which by the way is not supported by Sony, there is no way of getting pro-scan DVD playback from a new PAL PS2.

And importing DVDs is just LONG....

So many speculative threads about next-gen hardware, allow me to inject a slight distraction.

Namco has announced the release date of the Xenosaga fan disc - Xenosaga Freaks at 28 April. Throwing some estimates, that puts the release of Xeno2 at maybe half a year later at end '04. Which in turn puts the NA release around end '05, which coincidently will be around when next-gen consoles are ready to ship.

You think so? I don´tknow about that, I´d say that Xeno 2 might be released about 3 months later after Freaks is released. I believe that whatever additional interest Freaks might inject into the proyect might dillude if Xeno 2 really is released 6 months after it.

Well, maybe I´m just saying it because I want the NA release to be as quick as possible. :p

In related news, Namco has provided a download of a medley of tunes that apparently play during a minigame "Xeno-Pitan" in Xeno:F. The 60-second medley is brought to you by the seiyus for - in order - Shion, Kos-Mos, Momo, all of 'em + someone.

Warning: Only click on link if you can take what I shall label as "Kawai-ness". I am not responsible for any unwanted psychological effects thereafter.

EDIT: And Namco has updated their pages with better shots of those mirrored by MagicBox. It's in japanese, but navigation bar has english translation.

no chance to see disgaea in europe? it's a shame

We 'might', if there were thousands of people flooding Nippon Ichi's mailboxes.

Damn Sony, they bring Arc to Europe, but leave all the good stuff in Japan and de USA.

man it would truly suck ass if I (as an RPG fan) lived in europe :p well I would probly mod my PS2 ASAP and start importing games frequently, but stilll it would be a total pain in the ass.

Welcome to my world (well around 8 monthes ago anyway....)

Sorry for reviving this somewhat old thread. I just wanted to know if any of you guys have played the original Xenogears as well as Xenosaga.
To me they don't seem like they have much in common.

I'm currently playing the original Xenogears for the third time (just reached disc 2 an hour ago weeeee :))

And I must say it's the best CRPG I ever played and personally I'd even say it's the best PSgame ever released. (sort of like what FF should've been like if Square didn't turn CG-whores)

So is there any point in buying, chipping a PS2 and then importing Xenosaga? (Just did that specifically with a PS One just to play Xenogears :D )

I played Xenogears through about 5 or 6 times and Xenosaga through maybe twice. The main problem with XS is that it's only about a third of the length of XG. I agree with you, XG is my personal favorite game of all time by a fairly large margin, but my personal recommendation is to wait until XS2 comes out in English, then chip your PS2 to play both of them since XS2 will be a direct sequel like .hack.

Slightly OT but given that Suikoden 3 was mentioned -

Strange how Suikoden 3 never saw a PAL release, but 4 has been confirmed for a PAL release.

What Xenogears lacks in CG cutscenes, it makes up for in spades with endless slow dialogue and really, really boring areas.

Another HUGH update, courtesy of Gamewatch.

First of news about Xeno-Freaks. It has been revealed that a mini adventure game "Xeno-Comi" will be included in the package. The game is tells a side-story that occured during the events of Xenosaga Ep. Lots of screens - http://watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20040220/xenof.htm

For Xenosaga Ep2 - lots of updates here - http://watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20040220/ep2.htm

Note that Gamewatch marked the game with a release date of June. Among the screenshots, two more combination attacks are ahown. We also get a look at Momo's Mecha.

While I agree that some dialogue is a bit dull I think it has a much more interesting story than the run-o-the-mill fantasy CRPG out there. (Though it surely has its weakpoints too when things tend to take too many twists and turns and just become silly.)

I *loved* Xenogears's plot.

By boring areas I was referring to the 'gameplay' between dialogue segments.

By the halfway mark, I was wishing the game could've just been a novel instead...

Argh, I'm stuck at the freakkin' puzzle at the end of the game right now. (You know where you can rotate the platforms.)
I remember I got stuck the first time I played it as well.
Been going around in circles for an hour now.

Poorly thought out "puzzle". o_O
