I used a 800x600 projector displaying a 4 by 3 meters image and I thought SD video while lacking detail looked good. (contrast/brightness well set up, 6500K color, ffdshow does video deblocking and maybe gamma)
of course 1:1 pixel mapped VGA is probably way better than dealing with a PS2 on a HDTV.
