Haze : The official game thread

Ubisoft has a long standing tradition of abusing the fact that a perceived exclusive attracts more attention. For that reason alone, any comments on exclusivity from their end means nothing to me other than that it will most likely be a timed exclusive and the 360 game won't be there for at least 6 months. It's a viable strategy for multi-platform development, because you can first focus on the first platform, and then on the second, and you can save some money should the project fail.

Free Radical can do whatever they want. If they want to put it on 360 then they will, if they don't, they won't. Ubisoft needn't have much to do with this.
 
The game is nothing unique from what I ve seen yet I see lots of people in other forums going crazy about it. And for what?

Ok I understand the concept and it sounds brilliant, but any gameplay video shown has not depicted anything spectacular.

I spoke to three. They were very knowledgeable. Explained all the previous decisions, and didnt just say "they didnt know" which they said they didn't not too long ago, but that they now knew the decision had been made to be just PS3.

So it has begun, :LOL:

Everyone should just back off and look at the developer and look at the concept of Nectar. It's a great gameplay and story mechanic, and really sets the game apart.

Haze is a new IP. If they want some attention than they need to show us that makes it stand out. This year we get Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Battlefield Bad Company and Call of Duty 5, all of them will sell well on brand name alone. Haze only has good developers and while their last games where good the bar has been raised this gen. If they deliver something of the same level it will be average.
 
Doesn't really clarify anything! Only throws doubt on the previous clarification that it was PS3 exclusive forever. Doesn't tell us if an XB360 is due, in development, or may be produced following PS3, or if they're just keeping options open.

AlStrong : The only relevant info is "exclusive on PS3 for now". No context given to frame the quote in.
 
I think Free Radical have already made their decision to be honest.

If it sells well UBI might farm out the port to someone else, but I think FRD have put the kybosh on them doing it themselves.

(This is just reading between the lines and forming my opinion on their history as PS developers first and foremost)
 
There's something fishy in the delaying of this game! :rolleyes: It just doesn't feel right. BTW, did you guys see the official Mantel website? Its CooOL !:cool:
 
Astoundingly, the cynical folks at Edge magazine gave Haze an extremely positive preview.





Perhaps Haze still looks a little underwhelming in places, and perhaps the cry of ‘political game’ will scare players away. It’s neither. Haze looks like being, first and foremost, a brilliant current-generation shooter debut for Free Radical. Alongside that, there are individual scenes featuring subject matter few other pieces of entertainment go near. If Haze’s excellent design is sustained throughout, then alongside its new narrative territory it may be that rarest of beasts: an excellent game that dares to treat us like adults.


Haze: it’s not one-sided, but nor is it full of minor variants. You can either be a trooper or a rebel, and that choice dictates your and your team’s entire strategy. Either all-guns-blazing pumped-up-adrenaline shock and awe, or crafty, sneaky, improvisatory and environment-controlling tactics. The level design adds to this, concentrating on making each location a series of encounters that play out in different ways: on a ship, for example, you fight your way up and down stairs, cross a long gantry, drop into a more open space and take on some snipers, all the while moving through a series of smaller spaces with their individual encounters. The attention to the player’s movement through the level is quite brilliant at times, although only extended play will tell if it can maintain this standard throughout.


Good news,especially since it's coming from Edge.
Despite the overwhelming negativity surrounding this game, I expected it to be well above average.
It's nice to know that Haze could potentially exceed everyone's expectations.
