It's not really any different from watching tv from your bed. Do you know anyone who doesn't use the remote to turn off their tv while in bed?
Me! TV's can consume up to 80% of their power on while in stand-by. We're supposed to making efforts to reduce resource consumption and various emmisions, yet every seems more intersted in bigger TVs and more convenience regardless of environmental costs. Son'y sbig future seems to be you leave your PS3 on while on holiday so you can access it abroad. We won't even turn off our electrical devices when we're the other side of the world :?

80%?! I don't think i ever "push the big button"... it doesn't feel right.

I was shocked to hear that too, as it doesn't seemt o make sense if the screen's not powered, but apparently so. So I actually switch electrical equipment off now instead of just switching it to standby.

Somebody must have a VERY old tv.

On my tv the power button functions exactly like the power button on the remote control ie it'll still put the tv in standby. The only other option is yanking the cord. ;)

It's a CRT! Normal TV, u know, u have one standby button on the remote and "the big button" on the TV to really turn it off.

OK ITS OLD!

I turn off the power bars when everyone goes out. Of course, I do it without telling anyone, so I have to rush in and turn them back on once we get back. ;)
