Halo: Reach

Oh carpe. I finally saw the Halo: Reach - Legendary Edition. /sigh. Now I'm not sure if I want that more or the X360 Reach bundle more. And buying both doesn't make sense. ARGH.

What they needed to do since this is the last Halo by Bungie probably for the next 10 years is force MS to allow a special Halo: Reach - Keyboard and mouse controller for X360.

I wouldn't like to use a kb and mouse to play Halo Reach as for me it feels more intuitive to use the 360's control for that specific game.When I played Halo CE on the PC, it felt a bit awkward using a kb and mouse to play..I did pretty decent but I'm way better at playing Halo with a controller then with a kb and mouse.I think its not worth getting the Halo Reach legendary edition because the action figures it comes with isn't nowhere as good as SquareEnix's upcoming Halo Reach action figures.

While I am excited about Reach this trailer is really 'meh'.

Had some pretty scenes. As a trailer, well... it's a ViDoc. Some really nice lighting I thought.

Microsoft had a little gamescom show at 6 pm GMT.
We got to see the intro movie of Halo:Reach same as the VGA trailer but now with voice overs and about 2 min of gameplay no enemy contact.

Apparently HALO:Reach has been leaked over the internet already ! MS shouldn't have used a DVD drive in 360. If HALO :Reach is available for free so early....then what is safe?

I dont think it's actually available on pirate sites just yet. One or more groups got it via exploiting the download system, but the one known to have it said they wont release it or any campaign footage in deference to bungie.

I'm sure it will leak anytime now, it's going to have to enter the distribution chain before long if not already. If they could stave the full pirate frenzy off until 3, or even better, 2 weeks left, that would be nice. Just so hopefully I can avoid spoilers easier.

Heck I think Halo 2 leaked like two months early, so this is an improvement.

So, constructively, what are things people would have liked to see in Reach that are not included? Little things or big things ...

I'd like an in-game commentary, just frank discussion ala the H3 Legendary DVD. Or perhaps contextual commentary in the same vein as Valve's methodology (e.g. Portal). Random tech/art bits you can just "activate" during the game.

The Halo 2 LE documentaries were pretty enlightening as well...

I had the chance to test Firefight mode at MS booth. We only had 10min. Gameplay was great, which is a no brainer! In one wave, we even got attacked by this flying tank thingy...cool that I incidently just picked up the big (have to load forever for one shoot) laser weapon!

But the graphics where so so...
I could not see the major difference to HALO 3, to be honest.
Some stuff, like the roofs where you could jump on had hefty aliasing issues similar to HALO 3, does not seem to be an improvement at all in the AA department?!
Again, probably the issue was that I was only a half meter away from the display...
I had the feeling though that the textures where rather high res and good looking.
I hoped to get flashed by the new HALO engine...which did not happen.

Frankly speaking, iut has been the campaign trailers which have been wowing me. The new MP maps revealed do not seem to share the same polish as that map(whatisname) with Grass n wooden structures. That one map just Wows me completely, but the rest feel old and dated in terms of GFX. Campaign trailer, OTOH, impresses with amazing HDR lighting that dazzle anyone !
