Halo: Reach

I just finished a Firefight match that went the full time and received ~ 2464 cR just for the game time portion (30 minutes). That's quite a jump from the 1120 cap previously. I think I ended up around 3950 cR! This should ease the 240,000 cR gap to General.

There's not much I want either from the quick glance through all the new armory items. So in the meantime the bank will keep saving towards the Inclement Weather (2,000,000 cR); it's at 1,670,440 now.

Oh, and you are a cR whore. I'm just a bigger one. :p

BTW: There isn't another level cap put in place, it's just a long running update process to roll things out. [ http://www.bungie.net/News/Blog.aspx?mode=news#cid29579 ]

Just a couple of things to clear up:

  1. Full deployment may take several hours. When all is said, done, and thoroughly verified, we'll make some more noise on the front page.
  2. There is NOT another rank cap in place. Go nuts.

Btw, don't expect anymore Frankie/outerworldvoice posts on negoaf anymore. Amirox, a mod on negoaf, who's properly gone off the deep end about the prospects of Kinect doing well, pema banned Frankie for questioning him and deleted the post in question...

Speaking of mods, congrats Brit. Don't go off the deep end :)

So... At roughly 5,000 cr per hour, you have been playing nearly 400 hours?!
It's only been 50 days since it was released...

:runaway:

Let's see... 13 days, 11 hours, 3 minutes total... or ~323 hours played total and about.... 1.65M cR so far.:p

Well early on there were a ton of credits to be made off commendations and challenges. I tallied up my play time from Bungie's site including all the game modes and it came out to 363 hours for 1.81M cR. I don't know if it counts time sitting idle in matchmaking lobby between rounds when taking a break or searching for a game. :D

RobertR1, thanks. That sounds a bit crazy over at neogaf, I'll try not to do the same here.

Aah the frankie massacre in the kinect thread gladly it's not a perma ban.
But yeah still kinda asking what the post in questing looked like.

The campaign credits still suck once you reach the Silver Commendation level. The last mission I played through was all of 122 credits total, 100 being from game-time (~15 minutes ?) and the 22 were from some head-shots / assassinations.

You mean "Frankie" as in Frank O'conner formerly of Bungie and 343 was banned? Seriously?

Yep, something about a mod bashing 360 line up while Frank said Ms had core titles in the pipe line but wanted to focus on kinect now. Even going as far as committing account suicide to defend the 360 line up.

What a complete and total power-tripping fuckhead! I can't believe they have mods like that. Unbelievable. Wow.

Funny how he wanted to keep the thread about kinect but also he himself kinda keeps it on the exclusive part. My past experience always has been around this time of the year the 360 line up looks dead then we have the VGA or a X event and the line up looks better.

Frankie if you read this by anyway where is my 3rd person tactical halo game like real commandoes play and how a lot of spartans operate in the books.

Leave the rambo action for next gen.

Anyone else annoyed that for some reason they took out the option for assist scoring for custom gametypes?

I have no idea why they'd remove it - it seems like a conscious decision rather than an oversight - i mean you have the option of giving points for sticks, splatters, headshots, but not assists?

It makes no sense, especially since the assist system in Reach is far more accurate than H3s was.

Just about to start the Reach single player campaign finally and was wondering whether I should install it to the HDD. I remember installing Halo 3 actually made the load times slower, how is Reach in this context?

Edit: Dunno why I didn't just google it on my own immediately :) Seems like installing is the way to go. Load times should reduce by quite a lot!

Heroic is fun. The enemies are pretty challenging, but you can still "run-n-gun", so to speak.

Legendary is a different league though. Still doable, but not with "Rambo" tactics. The weapons you choose to carry are of paramount importance.

I do think solo Legendary is more balanced this time around than previous titles. I believe I actually died less on Legendary Solo than Heroic because I had to be very cautious and tactical with my approach to each encounter. As you said, no "rambo." While not as Epic as the Halo 3 campaign (mainly due to lack of Master Chief going all over the universe to kick ass) I feel the campagin was the most consistant and balanced to date.

I absolutely suck at throwing grenades at anything other than CQC ranges in Reach, I used to be decent in Halo 3, but in Reach the amount of trouble I have throwing grenades onto the opposite side of Sword Base or into the buildings or platforms on the Cage/Pinnacle, hell I was trying to throw grenades onto the second floor from the bottom of Countdown and BOTH frags bounced off the railing and fell back down.

They've changed the trajectory and bounciness of grenades, I guess I'll have to relearn.
Perhaps I'll play a few rounds of Firefight with unlimited grenades as the only weapons available.

Also, has anyone managed to figure out how to consistently lay a grenade down on the ground in front of you (so you can retreat and your attacker will be caught in the blast if he follows), half the time mine seem to bounce away uselessly.
