Halo: Reach

As mentioned, the key to credits is Firefight, challenges, and commendations.

Maybe we score more in Firefight because on the very rare occasion, we're playing with only 2 or 3 players total and finish a match around 8 to 9 minutes or less. The quickest match I remember with 4 people was 4.5 minutes from start to finish.

Here's the ranges we seemed to have over the past few days without challenges or major commendations. The lower(est) and higher(est) scoring game range is around 800 and 1200 credits. A couple times we hit '777' on the slots, but most times the slots is closer to 100.

From the Bungie weekly update:

By now you’re all aware that there’s a limit on the level you can currently achieve in Reach. Based on the amount of noise and concern coming from the community I figured that the vast majority of you have already run face first into this virtual ceiling. I couldn’t have been more wrong. As it turns out, over 70% of the entire population is still at Warrant Officer or below. In fact, the amount of active players who are currently sitting at the level cap is less than 1% of everyone playing Reach.

Ok, so why is there a level cap in the first place?

"We had some ideas on cool ways to lift it via communal effort.”

We should hopefully have more news to share on those “cool communal efforts” very soon and if I were a betting man I’d say that the current cap will be lifted in the next month or two, give or take.

Finally got around to beating the last mission on Legendary. According to stats, I've put in close to 25hours on the campaign already. Legendary solo was a blast. The nicest thing about this campaign is the lack of a "Cortana/Library" level. Everything was fun to play through.

JUST IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO KNOW, the daily credit cap is definitely 60,000 and resets at midnight pacific time. :p

While I do appreciate that the game didn't had levels like those, I couldn't ignore the fact that majority of the campaign worked as a mini firefight mode where you have to hold off an area & defend. The 2nd last level (think its called "The Package") where you have to defend position in front of Halsey's lab was the worst offender.

There are only 2 areas where you need to defend and hold off waves.Thats not bad that given a massive variety of vehicles missions all which work perfectly and level design that you could play through in a mind boggling number of ways. I have finshed the game twice on Heroic and i'm near the end on legendary and i'm constantly amazed by the different ways and methods you can complete the sandbox levels. For me It's is truely stunning.

Yeah I have to agree. It's one of my favorite things about most halo games, you can play through a section over and over and no two battles will ever play out exactly the same.

Not even that some places if im correct change event placements like the first level the first time i played it i encountered the marines by the river and the second time and third at a building. But personally i think it more based on how you drive(which route you take).

If this was a survey, I'd check the "Strongly Disagree" box.

I agree that all the missions were fun to play. The only thing missing was one of those "epic" type battles. Like in H3 where you were fighting those huge weapon platforms on the beach. I suppose the
next to last mission where you shoot down the cruiser might be one, but that's more of a glorified shooting gallery. Oh, and I suppose the run to the Pillar of Autumn while dodging those same massive machines of war could be considered epic-ish.

SB

They are called Scarabs.

And yes, it would have been awesome to fight a few of them on the Pillar of Autumn level on your way to Capt Keyes. I guess they thought that would have made that level too long. Perhaps it would have, but not in a bad way IMO.

Wonder what they would say about Josh's keyboard/mouse setup?

Before I bought one I checked that out. One of the community reps said they didn't see a problem with it as the mouse/kb couldn't input variables different than what the gamepad allowed. I linked it here in the past. If Bungie had said they were banning for it I would have never purchased one. I am not sure what other answer they could have (it is true) but also because the device is undetectable. The interesting thing is MS has licensed not only wheels, yokes and sticks, and arcade sticks but also game pads with Turbo buttons. MS has sanctioned a lot of input devices that allow different mechanical devices to provide the same game input data.

Btw, the Razor gamepad looks really nice.

+ 10 for no Flood. :D

- 10 for no scarab battles. :devilish:
