Halo: Reach

I noticed that shadows disappear very quickly. Seems to be a short distance where player/AI shadows are visible.

I noticed this too, but it seemed really inconsistent. For example the farmer that you talk to in the beginning of the first level disappears when you're 5 feet away. However I've seen friends in co-op that were much further and still had a shadow under them. Not sure if I'm just mistaken or if there really are different levels of pop-in with shadows, need to play around with it more.

I guess this is well known, dunno if this is the correct place for it..

I think we had some old discussions on the whole harddrive vs no harddrive discussion?

I think I remember a presentation given by bungie on their streaming tech for Halo 3 and how they had a priority system in place for the sound that determined what sounds can or can not be produced if you had a HDD attached or not. So maybe it has something to do with their streaming tech in Reach? Can't imagine what it would be, but just a thought
 
I'm just STARTING to play tonight. Went to the midnight launch to get my pre-order, but I was mainly only going for my son. He saved a lot of his money to help pay for it. So it was only fitting that he get the free codes and get to play it first. He played part of the first mission before we went to bed. Figured I would play yesterday evening after work, but got so sick that I went home at lunch and went to bed. Never felt good enough to get up and play. Anyway, if you see me online and want to do some Co-Op send me an invite.

I has some good fun with NRP, RobertR1 and BRiT on some team matches. Weird that I did better than I typically do in MP.

I wonder if running through on Heroic solo actually improved my aim a bit. I'd like to get into a bit of Firefight if anyone is interested later.
 
Is it me or does reach tears heavily in some cutscenes or is that just the way they wanted to show those cutscenes bungie said they wanted to show it like a war docu.

A lot of cut-scenes use a camera filter to simulate video feed interference, which includes a lot of "tears" and a grain filter. I thought it was pretty simple to distinguish.
 
It's also easy to spot because there is a small UNSC emblem on the lower right.

Warning before you view it: a ton of spoilers though out. It's also about 2 hours in length with Marty, the Mo-Cap designer, the campaign lead (Lehto I think) and the SFX lead guy.
A ton of cool ideas were left out.

That's the Legendary Edition commentary, right? Might have to bug someone so I can check it out. ;)

$60 game, $20 Halsey Journal, $70 commentary and a free statue, amirite. :p

Anyways, funny how much trouble half-ammo skull and double enemy life skull can be on just normal.
 
After playing sp for about 4-5 hours i have to say reach is overrated. Its another halo but this time with very bad framerate sometimes fps drops to single digits .
 
As usual, I did absolutely horrible as a WartHog driver on a new to me map and gameplay combo. We're talking driving into rocks, then crates, then more rocks, then water and more rocks while heading the wrong way, then when we encountered the enemy their armor lock messed me up solid. At one point I think I did a 128 point turn around. Poor RobertR1 and whoever else was on board. Do not repeat my mistakes. :LOL:

I think so, but it is viewed through Waypoint on Live. I think the download that gives you the flaming helmet, Falcon for your avatar and Recon armor also gives you a key to access the vid. I'm not sure if there is another way to view it so hopefully someone uploads it.

I guess I'm a sucker for the Limited/Legendary editions of games I really like. BTW, the Halsey jorno is pretty high quality stuff that probably is worth $20.

When are you up for some party MP? I know I wanted to finish campaign solo before doing anything else.

Yeap finished reading halsey jorno and masterchief was on reach when the covy attacked testing a new mjolnir suit that can handle cortana. Come on 343 make a singleplayer dlc that has the chief in it come on do it.
 
Why have they made hijacking vehicles so much harder?
I was playing BTB and on some maps (like Hemmorhage) the vehicles are just painful - the fact that you can't hijack an incoming warthog or ghost like you could in H3 just makes everything really unbalanced.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
 
I don't know if they could put together a properly upgraded Master Chief model for the cutscenes, maybe there are enough pieces in the Noble 6 armor customization palette. Otherwise it's really just a question of level designer time which they should have plenty of now that the game's released.
